William Dollar
Information provided by John
William served
in the Revolutionary War in the 2nd Va. Regiment. He enlisted in 1776
while a resident in Frederick County, Virginia. His name was William
Dollar also spelled Dolier or Dollier in some records. He enlisted 15
Oct 1776 and was discharged on 7 Dec 1779. Pension record number W.
22965. He later was married in 1780 in Berkley County according to
sources. He moved to S.C. and later to Indiana and Illinois. He died in
1838 in Illinois and is buried there.
I have two DAR records
relating to this ancestor. Information also was found in his pension
record file in the National Archives that mentions depositions that he
was enlisted from Frederick County, Virginia.

Pension File for William
Dollar W22965
A deposition was found in the pension file from
Clermont County, Ohio
4 Mar 1822. Clermont County, Ohio. Susannah
Lovell delcares she knew William Dollar of Frederick Co. Va. He enlisted
for three years. He made his home at the house of the deponent and she
did his washing. A few days after Dollar enlisted her husband John Loval
enlisted in the same company.
I would like your help with more
information that may be available that I know not of. I know that
Willliam was in Frederick County as early as the date of his enlistment
in 1776. I do not however know how long he had been there or where he
had come from. I have information that he was from Wales. He had left on
board a whaler at age 17. My problem is I have no information about his
from that time until 1776. If dates are correct he was 17 in about 1760
and was on the whaler for three years. For the next 13 years I lose
track of him.
