Owen ROGERS to Eleanor NELSON
Know all men by these presents that we Owen ROGERS and Jacob JINKINS
firmly bound unto this Excellency JAMES _______ (blotted out) are held
and Esq. Governor of Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred
and fifty dollars, to which payment well and truly to be made t the said
govern or his successors, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and
administrators, jointly and feverally firmly by these presents. Sealed
with our seals, and dated this first day of September 1798.
The CONDITION of the above obligation is such, that whereas there is
a MARRIAGE shortly intended be solemnized between the above bound Owen
ROGERS and Eleanor NELSON now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct
the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void and of no
effect—otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
