Belva Goad Dalton, 90, of Meadows of Dan, Va. went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Josie Moles Goad. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband, Foster E. Dalton; one daughter, Lynda Marie Dalton; one brother, Harry Goad; and two sons-in-law, Garland L. Hopkins and R. Calvin Smith. She was retired from JP Stevens Co. with 17 years of service, and a member of Parkway Church of the Brethren. Belva was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved everyone and was loved by everyone who knew her. She had a gift of making teddy bears from re-cycled mink coats giving her the name of "The Bear Lady". The bears are enjoyed by many patrons throughout the United States. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Dalton is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Arlie E. Dalton and wife, Jackie, of Willis, Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lois D. Smith, of Roanoke, Va., Essie D. Handy and husband, Garland, of Ridgeway, Va., and Lorene Hopkins-Pequignot and husband, Tom, of Fieldale, Va.; six grandchildren, Cara Perdue, Jeff Dalton, Steven Reece, Rebecca Price, Scott Reece, and Chris Hopkins; one great-granddaughter, Brittany Dalton; one great-grandson, Jordan Hopkins; one sister, Edith Wade, of Floyd, Va.; one sister-in-law, Susan Goad, of Stuart; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Danny Gilley and the Rev. Coan Agee officiating. Interment will follow in the Goad Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening July 29, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Vesta Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 238, Vesta, Virginia 24177 or to the Floyd Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 257, Floyd, Virginia 24091.

Sherell Junior Hodge, 79,of Laurel Wood Apartments, Pulaski, died Thursday, Sept. 30,1993 in Pulaski.

Born May 8,1914 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late James Allen Hodge and Maggie Florence Raines Hodge. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thurman L. Hodge and Lewis J. Hodge. He was a member of the Shiloh Christian Church and was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation in Chesterfield County.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Henley of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Mrs. James (Anne) Duke of Chesterfield and Mrs. Maynard (Sue) Hedge of Dublin; one son, Donald Pete Hodge of Hartsville, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. James (Bertie) Kennedy, Mrs. Leo (Erma) Bedsaul and Mrs. Margaret Handler, all of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Otey (Dorothy) Shull of Palm Desert, Cal.; two brothers, Everett Thomas Hodge of Pulaski and James C. "Jack" Hodge of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Goad Family Cemetery in the Meadows of Dan with the Rev. Robert Marshall officiating.
Visiting will be any time after 3 p.m. Saturday at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m.. The family will be meeting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maynard (Sue) Hedge, Rt. 1 (Lyons Road), Dublin, where friends may call any time. Bower Funeral Chapel ~ 1631 Bob White Boulevard, Pulaski, is in charge of arrangements.

Edward "Ray" Lawson, 83, of Stuart, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born June 11, 1929, in Patrick County to William Joseph and Sallie Mae Wood Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Lawson, Howard Lawson, Carl Lawson and an infant Guy Lawson; and three sisters, Ruth Hazelwood, Lucille Anthanas and Betty Jo Flippin.
Lawson retired from United Elastic with more than 30 years of service, and he was a member of Pastor John's House.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Cora Belle Dalton Lawson; a son, Blane Lawson of Stuart; two daughters, Lauren Rae Wyatt of Louisville and Suzanne Wilson of Stuart; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with his brother-in-law, Elroy Newman, officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time for the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Cora Belle Dalton Lawson, 80, of Stuart, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.
She was born April 23, 1932, in Patrick County to Frank and Edna West Dalton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Ray" Lawson.
She had owned and operated Stuart Florist and had worked at United Elastic.
Surviving are one son, Blane Lawson of Stuart; two daughters, Lauren Rae Wyatt of Louisville, Ky., and Suzanne Wilson of Stuart; four grandchildren; three brothers, Owen Dalton of Laurel Fork, Jack Dalton of Stuart and Phil Dalton of Meadows of Dan; and one sister, Iva Newman of Lynchburg.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for two hours before the service.
