Mildred Maxine Burnett
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mildred Maxine
Burnett, 93, who left this life to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on
Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home in
Newport News, Virginia.
She was born in the small town of Viper, Kentucky, located in Perry County,
on May 18, 1930.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wrex and Essie Evans, all her
siblings (Amel, Sybil, Frieda, LaVerne), and two husbands, W.L. Burnett and
Les Hicks.
Mildred is survived by eight children: Maurine Frank, Lynne Jenkins
(Dennis), Michael Burnett (Suzy), Ronald Burnett, Regina Burnett, Loretta
Watson (Donnie), Eula Parks (Garry), Aldea Young (Jim); 15 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; her niece Kim Moore
Wilder; and many close family friends.
She was called Mother, Mildred, Maxine, Grandmother, and Mrs. B, and she
led a full life devoted to God, her family, friends, and church. She will
live in our hearts forever, and we will never forget her laughter and the
positive difference she made in so many people's lives.
May we all be inspired by the life she lived, the love she shared, and the
unwavering faith in God which she shared with so many.
Instead of flowers or donations, please share a memory or act with the
family that made an impression in your life.
Thank you to Medi Home Health & Hospice for your care and Peninsula
Funeral Home for her final care.

NEW KENT COUNTY - Burnett, William Lathan
"Bill" passed away peacefully from this life on May 30, 2013.
Born in 1925 in Meadows of Dan, Virginia, he was a long time resident of
the Peninsula. This last year of his life he made his home in New Kent
County. For years he was known as one of the best automobile mechanics in
the area. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He received an honor
for the longest continual membership in the Toano Hunt Club. An excellent
cook and gardener, he gave away almost all of what he grew, and he was
revered for his mashed potatoes and grilled BBQ chicken. His greatest love
was his family. He is survived by eight children, Maurine Frank, Lynne
Jenkins and her husband, Dennis, Mike Burnett and his wife, Susie, Ronald
Burnett, Regina Bowery and her husband, Michael, Loretta Watson and her
husband, Donnie, Eula Faye Parks and her husband, Gary, and Aldea Young and
her husband, Jim, as well as thirteen grandchildren and fifteen
great-grandchildren. Bill was a good man, always putting others first and
ready to lend a hand whenever needed. So please, save your flowers.
Instead, make a donation to your local food bank or do kindness or a good
deed specifically in his name. A Memorial Service will be held at Peninsula
Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2, at 4:00 p.m. His remains will rest in the
Burnett Family Cemetery in Meadows of Dan.
