Dickerson Research by Diane Good addiane@provide.net

Hello,

I'm Marilynn Dickerson's daughter, and I have been struggling with Griffith Dickersons (to define who we descend from) for a long time... She passed away almost exactly 2 years ago, and I'm still working hard with little success in finding other people that believe my wild story!

However I'm gathering more and more sources to back up my point of view...

There is one new thing I can add to the discussion of who is the father of James T Dickerson.  I have not taken the time, until the present, to address the James T Dickerson parents' issue, because my brother and I both have over 50,000 autosomal dna matches on AncestryDNA, he just did a big-Y test where we're within genetic distance of 1-3 with descendants of Moses and Donald R Dickenson a descendant of Nathaniel, and Carlton Monroe Dickerson whose Dickersons
came from Caroline county, Virginia, I believe.  These results are exactly as we believe they should be.

My mother collected a Floyd county court hearing which appears to be an involuntary deed that paid for getting James T out of jail because of debts.  He deeded the inherited land in Hendricks county that belonged to his father Griffith Dickerson (abt 1781, Montgomery com, Va - 1845, Hendricks co, IN) to pay for his debts.  This I believe is the jist of it despite all the illegible words.

I've been working hard on Griffith Dickerson Sr b. ca. 1707-1710 of Caroline, Halifax, Louisa & Botetourt/Montgomery/Floyd, and have added a lot in the past couple of days...

Here's links to both my Griffith Sr's and James T's pages on my Ancestry website:

I'm also working on a post to the Floyd county Facebook group, as I have collected a picture of kids at Schoolhouse #6 that were all born between
1904 and 1908, 4 families, 2 descend from Moses Dickerson/Nancy Reed, Andrew Reed Dickerson/Mahala Dodd, thru 2 sons of Calvin and Harriet Halley/Holley;  and 2 descend from, I believe, the Elijah Dickerson I descend from (who was NOT married to Susannah Smith -- he never has had a known wife -- he was more of a longhunter type who served for 2 weeks during the Revolution in Christie's Cherokee expedition).  These 2 families descend thru this mentioned Elijah, thru his son Elijah 'Buck' Dickerson, born ca 1792, then thru 2 sons of Fleming.  I'll try to get my post out some time late this weekend or early next week...

Then I need to work on writing up what we will present to join the FTDNA Dickason project...

What I wonder about is if the Scott mill that was on the 1983 map done by Guy Williams has always had a mill on that site.  If it has, on my Griffith's ancestry page above, I provide a 1786 Montgomery County Road order that identifies it with Griffy Dickson near Callaway's Iron works ...

By the way my motivation for posting my grandfather's and great grandfather's pictures on Facebook is that they have big ears like Waitman and Albert Tidy Dickerson, and my grandfather Dorman named his first child Albert.  Too bad Albert died.  This maybe helps to show that all the Dickersons at that time, between Floyd Virginia and Boone/Hendricks counties Indiana kept better track of each other than we now realize ...

Let me know if there's a better form I can put information in...
