2011 After living more than a century, Judson H. Young
departed this life on September 3, 2011. He was born in Floyd County on May
15, 1910. He was the last of 11 children born to the late Henry and Betsy
Young. He lost his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Ruth Flinchum Young,
on July 27, 2000. Seven brothers and three sisters also preceded him in
death. He is survived by his four children, Loretta Y. Crawford and husband,
Gary, Wagner Young and wife, Dana, Eddie Young and wife, Mary, and Debra
Young and husband, Blaze. Survivors also include five grandchildren, Theron
Lester and Lori Lester, Wes Young and wife, Lisa, Kellie Wilkinson and
husband, Chris, and Brandon Young and wife, Carrie. Also surviving are four
great-grandsons, Trevor and Bradley Young, Braxton Gill and Jaxson Young; one
sister-in-law, Blanche Kanode of Christiansburg. He
is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends from Floyd and the New
River Valley. Mr. Young lived a long and fruitful life, staying active into
his mid 90's. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his yard and garden.
He was an active member of the Indian Valley Presbyterian Church. He retired
from Hercules after 32 years of service, receiving many awards for years of
perfect attendance. The family would like to thank Highland Ridge Rehab and
the Mountain Valley Hospice for their help and support during their father's
lengthy illness. The family is being served by the Devilbiss
Funeral Home in Radford and will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday
evening. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Indian
Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gerald Phillips and the Rev. Gary
Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at the Captain George Quesenberry
Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Indian Valley Bible Fellowship

Saturday morning in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem. Born in
Floyd County on May 14, 1894, he was the son of the late Garland and Laura
Akers Young. He was a World War I veteran and was employed by several funeral
homes for 17 years. Surviving are his wife, Lucy Ann Young, five daughters,
Mrs. Marie Blankenship, Radford, Mrs. Lavie
Coltrane, Draper, Mrs. Daphne McCormick and Mrs. Evelyn Quesenberry, both of
Dublin; two sons, Kenneth Young and Roy Arnold Young, both of Dublin. Also two brothers, Fred Young of Frederick, Md., and Dewey
Young of Christiansburg; three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Duncan of Frederick, Md.
Mrs. Maudie Duncan and Mrs. Manie Cox, both of Radford, 16 grandchildren and
22 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Bower
Funeral Chapel in Pulaski with the Rev. Clifton McLawhorn
officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornspring
Cemetary in Pulaski. Friends may call after noon today
and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bower Funeral

and Mark Cox of Opelika, and his children, Amber and Bryan Cox; a daughter,

Michael of Hurt, and their daughter Hannah, Lyndell Skeen and Larry Yeatts of
Hollywood, Md., and their children, Jason and Holly Yeatts, "Robin"
Skeen and "Chip" Harris of Roanoke, and their son, Matthew Scott
Harris; a daughter, Garna Cox Graham Williams of
Moneta, and her son, Roger Graham; a daughter-in-law, Christine H.C. Shelton

January 31, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost
seventy-two years, Mary Louise Roop Young, one son Homer Junior Young, and
one granddaughter, Teresa Lynn Hale. He will be sadly missed by his children and their
spouses, Donald E. and Louise L. Young of Salem, Betty and Willie Musselman,
Mary Ann and Kenny Eanes, all of Christiansburg. He was the proud grandparent
of ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren,and
nine great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews
and friend Erbie Young. The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, February
3rd,at the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Richard Kingrea and
interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends
from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the Horne Funeral Service,
