Note: There are 2, 16 yo Asa Whitlocks in
the 1850 Floyd Co., VA Census. It could be the same "Asa" who was at
one house at the beginning of the census & the other at the end of the
census. One of them is a s/o Zebedee Coleman Whitlock & Celia Graham,
grandson Jonathan Graham and Mary Shelor. He will m. Elizabeth Sumpter &
have 5 ch: Dennis, Albert, Ataway,
Laura, Olivia & Inez. I’m fairly certain that he is the first Asa as he has
property now and in 1860 when he is married. Celia Graham Whitlock is buried in
the Pine Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Floyd Co., VA. She was a d/o
Mary Graham per her marriage record. There is a discrepancy in the age recorded
on her tombstone: b. 3-13-1816 with the one of family tradition: b. 3-13-1806.
Celia d. 10-12-1848. It is not known if Zebebee also
d. before 1850 or left the area. Asa is the known child but there may have been
others.
