1863 Burial: “He was originally buried on the battlefield at Chickamauga by his brother, George Washington Via (Viar). However, in 1867 the state of Georgia appropriated funds to collect the Confederate dead from the battlefields and rebury them in the Confederate Cemetery in Marietta.
