Infantry. Enlisted June 14th,
1861 at Elamsville, Patrick Co., VA. Discharged at Christiansburg VA April
12th 1865 being a Lieutenant of his Company at that time. Was wounded at the
battle of Winchester Sept. 19th 1864. The two comrades who signed his
application are W.T. Akers and Isaac N. Akers. We have a very much worn
suitcase, containing nothing but one coat, that belonged to Mr Shelor, and we
will send it to you by express on Monday. Capt. Graves id
quite unwell today, but we expect him to be in the office on Monday, when your
letter will be shown him. Respectfully,

March 25, 2007, at Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville. He was born in Fieldale on May 18, 1926 to the late
George McKinley Lawless and Daisy Shelor Lawless. He was also preceded in death
by two brothers, Ray Lawless and Ralph Lawless. He was the owner and operator of Fieldale Cement
Products and retired from Doyle Lumber Company. He was a charter member of
the Fieldale Fire Department and attended Fieldale United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Hudnall Lawless of
the home; five daughters, Regina Phelps of Lynchburg, Janet Minter of
Martinsville, Teresa Reeves of Fieldale, Lori King of Critz
and Melanie Nelson of Spencer; one sister, Isabelle Gore of Fieldale; 12 grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Collins
Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Susan Brack
officiating. Burial was in the Sycamore Baptist Church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to

at Morehead Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2

Cemetery. Mrs. Shelor was born in Eden on Sept.
7, 1924, a daughter of Jesse Ben and Della Earls Biggs, both deceased. She
was a homemaker and attended Church of the Living God. She is survived by her brother, Noah
Sanford Biggs. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Pulliam and her second husband
Gene Shelor. The family will receive friends from 1
