He was 1^st married to Mary Johnson Wills 4-25-1879 Amelia Co., VA. Another known child of Mathew & his 1^st wife Mary Johnson (Wills) Sandifer was Gabriel Penn Sandifer. He m. Martha Ruth Howell & settled in Patrick Co., VA.
