Richard Pearce of Montgomery County being sick and weak in body but of sound
and perfect memory and considering the uncertainty of mortal life and being
desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to
bless me with, after the payment of my just debts and funeral charges, I
dispose of the same in the following manner. That is to say, first I give and
bequeath unto my beloved wife Peggy the plantation whereon I now live during
her life and at her disposal, also the three horse beasts that is now in my
possession, also all the cattle and sheep now on the plantation, and also all
my stock of hogs, also all the grain and hay on the plantation, and also my
gun and shot pouch to be in her possession and at her disposal at her decease
and also all the household and kitchen furniture to be also at her disposal
and also farming utensils. Second I give unto my son Samuel Pearce the tract of
land he now lives upon, to begin at the corner of a tract of land owned by
Charles Yearout near the road leading from Yearouts
& Gardner's to Smith's Mills and thence to said road and along the same
to the beginning of my lane and along the same to a rye stack thence due east
to Smith's and Gardners line to him the said Samuel
Pearce & his heirs forever. Third I give and bequeath into my son Thomas
Pearce the tract of land whereon he now lives, the division line to run
between my wife and him as follows beginning at a beginning corner between me
and a tract of land I have already given to my son Jotham Pearce by deed
cornering on a red oak or white oak and thence a straight line to the above
mentioned road leading to Smith's mill to two small hickories and an old log
at the head of a small hollow leading down to my meadow to him the said
Thomas Pearce and his heirs forever. Fourth I give and bequeath unto my two
sons Thomas and Richard Pearce all my meadow to be equally divided between
them as they can agree, unto them and their heirs forever. Fifth I five and
bequeath unto by two sons Jotham Pearce and William Pearce the sum of one
dollar each to be paid them by my wife and three
sons Samuel, Thomas, and Richard when the same is called for. Also I give unto my three daughters Sally Garlick, Phoebe
Thompson and Abigail Pearce the sum of one dollar each to be paid them by my
wife and four sons Jotham, Samuel, Thomas and Richard Pearce. Also I give unto the heirs of Freelove
Smith deceased the sum of one dollar each to be paid them by my wife and four
sons Jotham, Samuel, Thomas and Richard Pearce. Sixth, it is my will and
desire that Phoebe Thompson and Abigail Pearce and my son Richard shall
remain and live with my wife during her life and lastly I hereby appoint my
beloved wife and my son Jotham Pearce my executive and executor of this my
last will and testament revoking all other or former wills by me made. In
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of
