Allen Dee Otey

Funeral arrangements are In complete for Allen Dee Otey, 56, Covel. who died Saturday morning at his home after a two year illness Bom Dec 8. 1908 at Christiansburg, Va, he was a son of the late Clarence and Alice Edwards Otey

He retired from the Pocahontas Fuel Co. mine at ltmann in 1962 because of illness. He was a member of the UMWA and had lived m Pineville 12 years.

Surviving are his wife. Bertha Pennington Otey: two sons. Alvin and Connie, both of Covel; two daughters. Mrs. Elizabeth Maxwell. Franklin, Ohio and Mrs. Alma Underwood, Bluefield.

The body is at the Foglesong Funeral Home, Inc. Mullens RNS

Alvin Amos Otey, 87, of Princeton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 22, 2019 with his family by his side. Born March 29, 1931 at Hiawatha, WV, he was the son of the late Allen Otey and Bertha Pennington Otey.

Alvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in active duty in the Korean War from 1952-1953. He was retired from Consolidated Coal Company having worked from 1949-1987 and was a member of the U.M.W.A. Alvin was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Princeton. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed Mountaineer sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Otey; his sister, Olivia Setters; and his grandson, Tanner Otey.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Alice Spradlin Otey.

Interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

WINSTON SALEM, NC - Myrtle Elizabeth Otey Finn Wszalek, age 82 of Winston Salem and formerly of Pulaski, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born October 22, 1923 in Montgomery County she was the daughter of the late Harry Otey & Lena Spaulding Otey Woolwine. Her infant son, David Wayne Finn, her first husband, Elbert Early Finn and her second husband, Henry S. Wszalek, two brothers; June Spaulding & Harry Jack Otey also preceded her in death. She was a former employee of the Paul Knitting Mills, also the Virginia Maid Hosiery Mills. She retired in May of 2005 from Experienced Works, where she had been employed for 11 years at the New River Valley Community Action. Surviving are: her son, Michael Lee Finn, Winston-Salem, NC; special friend, Randal W. Ferguson, Winston Salem, NC. Many nieces & nephews & much loved cousins & friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery (Pulaski). MARTIN, Edna O., 86, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2001.

She was born August 29, 1914 in Roanoke, daughter of the late William Preston and Mabel Flippen Otey.

She was predeceased by her husband, Julian Howell Martin and her brothers, John and Ray Otey.

Mrs. Martin was an employee at the American Viscose in the 1930s and 40s. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and kept the nursery for many years. Mrs. Martin was a wonderful cook, seamstress and quilter. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, Don P. Martin and his wife Cindy of Paradise Valley, Az. and Julia M. Belvin of Roanoke; beloved grandmother to Andrew Martin of Chicago, Ill. and Mathew Martin of Holland, Pa.

Her survivors also include two brothers, William P. Otey and his wife, Frances, Jimmy Otey and his wife Ruth; sister-in-law, Louise Otey of Roanoke.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday August 7, 2001 at the First Christian Church of Roanoke with the Rev. Jim Rivers officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Blue Ridge Chapter, 2728 Colonial Ave., SW, Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015 or First Christian Church, 344 Church Ave., SW, Roanoke, Va. 24016.

John S Otey, age 70, of Roanoke, died Thursday at his residence.

He was a charter member and trustee of Westhampton Christian Church, a member of Pleasants Masonic Lodge Number 63 AF and AM, retired from both DuPont and the State of Virginia, and a charter member of the Cave Spring Fire Department since 1962.

Mr. Otey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Dillard Otey; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F (Linda) Bray; three brothers, William P Otey, James Otey, Ray Otey; a sister, Edna Otey Martin; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev Johnny Loughridge and the Rev W L Bingham Jr officiating. Graveside service with Masonic Rites will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Westhampton Christian Church or a favorite charity. DRISCOLL, Virginia Otey, 88, of Roanoke, departed this life on Friday, September 10, 1999, at her home.

Virginia was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. Driscoll.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Joan A. Driscoll; her daughter, Doris D. Green; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Sister Angeline, Mary A. Driscoll, Lura Otey; her cousins, Irene Seib, and Judy Price; also, a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.

According to her wishes, her body was donated to the Anatomical Society. A memorial service will be held at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, Tuesday, September 14, 1999, 10 a.m. with Dr. Daniel Scott, and the Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Stephen Morgan and all Virginia's caregivers, friends, and family members. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
