Rochester Cemetery, Topeka, Shawnee Co., KS.) James Horsley, who has suffered with cancer for
some time, died Sunday evening at 9:50. Mr. Horsley has been a resident of
the North side for many years, having come from Virginia thirty-five years
ago. He settled in Topeka and went into the dairy
business running what was known as the Western Dairy. He moved to Leavenworth
but returned to Topeka and went to gardening. For a short time, he was a citizen of Chanute,
Kan., and owing to ill health he went to Boulder, Colo. His health being
improved he returned again to Topeka and lived with his daughter, Mrs. E. J.
Short, 1515 Park Street. There he has been ill for five months, succumbing to
the disease Sunday. He leaves a wife and eight grown sons and
daughters, Messrs. Fred and Ed Horsley, Mrs. William Dister
of Chanute, Mrs. William Sanders of Leavenworth County, Mrs. O. S. Johnson of
Chanute and Mrs. E. J. Short of North Topeka. The funeral services will take
place this afternoon at the Baptist Church at 2 o'clock. Interment in the
