Aaron Graham, pioneer wholesale grocer of Christiansburg, died on January 2 at his home, following an extended period of ill health. Funeral services were held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. R. L. Kinnaird, pastor, and Rev. T. P. Johnson of Kingsport, Tenn., a former pastor of the Christiansburg, Presbyterian church. Interment was in Sunset cemetery. The active pallbearers were: Harley Spangler, Edgar Knowles, E. H. Charlton, W. L. Nixon, W. H. Knowles and Charlie Gill. The honoraty pallbearers serving were: J. K. Harrison, H.M Wade, Major W. L. Pierce, George Walters, Hunter J. Phlegar, M. W. Wade, Major W. L. Pierce, M. W. Zirkle, W. S. Arron, H. M. Word, Dr. J. H. Thompson Walter Myers, J. D. Crenshaw, B. L. Haymaker, R. Shelton, W. S. Snidow, B. M, Hagan, V. M Sowder, Gerge Rohr, Dr. S. H. Nixon, Dr. A. Mr. Graham had formerly operated a wholesale house and foundry here, but of late years was a represenfative of the Standard Oil company. He had been an active members and officer in the Presbyterian church for over thirty years and at the time of his death was a elder.

Surviving are three children, George E. Graham and Mrs. Walter Kunker of Christiansburg, and Mrs. M. K. Frank of New York; seven grandchildren and one great- grandchild. His wife proceded him to the grave several months ago.

Among the out-of-town relatives attending Mr. Graham's funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. M.K. Grank of New York City; Mrs. Allen Phillips and son, Allen Jr., of Laurel, Del; Mr. and Mrs, Preston Sal and Mr and Mrs, Malcolm Graham.

Mrs. Lucy T. Graham, 82, died at her home early Saturday morning. Funeral services ere conducted at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 O'clock by Rev. Robert L Kinnaird, pastor the Christiansburg, Presbyterian church. Interment was in Sunset cemetery. The active pallbearers were : H. M. Wade, Dr. J. H. Thompson, Major W.L. Pierce, B. L. Obit for Burns Allen Shaeffer: Published in The Greenville News on November 4, 2011

Burns "Scrappy" Allen Schaeffer, 92, of Greenville, husband of Margaret Elizabeth Harrison Schaeffer, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Richard Campbell Veterans Home where he was a resident for four years. 

Born in Christiansburg, VA, he was a son of the late Charles Harrison and Mary Graham Schaeffer.

Mr. Schaeffer served in the U.S. Army during World War II after basic training at Camp Croft.

After his tour of duty, he stayed with the Veterans Administration as finance officer for Hospitals for a number of years. 

From there he worked for Cranston Print Works in NC as administrative advisor to the manager and later joined Harrison International as a Corporate secretary and treasurer where he retired.

Mr. Schaeffer also served as treasurer of several churches and was affiliated with Jr. Achievement, Boys and Girls Scouts, Who's Who, and was president of Furman Golf Association.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 68 years, are two daughters, Patricia Schaeffer of Taylors, and Shirley Parkin of Asheville, NC; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Kathryn Phillips and Elinor Ellis; and a brother, Charles Harrison Schaeffer, Jr.

The funeral service will be Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with visitation prior to the service from 12:15 until 1:15 p.m.

Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
