I can’t identify this fellow. There was a Lewis Dulaney noted in Find A Grave with this notation: “Enlisted: Pvt., Co. E, 38th Virginia Infantry. Military records has him as Lewis DELANCY. When: June 20, 1861; Where: Danville, Va.. Company Muster Rolls: June 30 to Aug. 30, 1861 present. Remarks: Absent without leave Sept. 23 and not returned Sept. 28. Chimborazo Hospital No. 2, Richmond, Va.. Admitted: May 11, 1862. Died May 21, 1862 from Gun Shot Wound of Foot resulting in Gangrene. His widow Sarah F. Delaney filed claims and received $114.43. From Virginia Select Marriages, 1785 - 1940. Lewis Delaney married Sarah F. Taylor May 9, 1861 at Danville, Va.. She later married William H. Shelton March 21, 1865 in Danville, Va..” But as there is no DOB, I don’t know if same as this Lewis Dulaney. What caught my attention on the Oakwood Cemetery Marker, there are “some 8,000 unknown” soldiers buried there. How sad.
