2011 8:26AM William Bill Canaday Sr., age 83, of Woodstock, Ga., formerly of
Monroe, died Jan. 30, 2011. Friends may call from 12
noon until 9 p.m. Friday at the Allore Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 203 E. Elm Ave., where
funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Brother William Canaday. Jr. of the North Redford Congregation of
Jehovahs Witnesses will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park,
Huron Township. Born July 22, 1927 in
Ghent, W.Va., William was the son of George & Hallie (Cooper) Canaday. He married Nancy L. Roberts on April 9, 1950. An
Army and Air Force veteran, Bill worked for Virginia Railroad as a fireman,
for the United States Postal Service, as well as Briggs Manufacturing. He
then worked for over 35 years as a conductor with Conrail Railroad, retiring
in 1989. A member of Monroe Senior
Citizens, Bill was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 35 years. In addition to Nancy, his
wife of some 60 years, Bill is survived by his children: William (Avis) Canaday Jr. of Detroit, Linda Kious
of Flat Rock and Sherry Canaday of Woodstock, Ga.
He is also survived by two sisters: Georgia Mae Price of Houston, Texas and
Nora Lee Lester of Ghent, W. Va.; six grandchildren: Glen Canaday,
Damon (Shannon) Canaday, Brian (Cheryl) Verner,
Shannon (Charlie) Reeves, Jeffrey (Danielle) Hart and Luke Smallwood, as well
as six great-grandchildren: Avery Canaday, Ryan Canaday, Aaron Verner, Leah Verner, Samantha Hart and
Andrew Hart. Sadly, Bill was preceded in
death by a son, Charles Canaday, four brothers and
three sisters. Memorial contributions may

Delaware and formerly of Paintsville, Ky., passed away Wednesday (Oct. 24,
2012) at Grady Memorial Hospital surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Slab Fork, W.Wa., on Oct. 5, 1920, to the late Jessie and Shirilda (Lawson) Canaday. A
lifelong homemaker, in addition to raising her large family, she had also
worked in several other capacities as well as a cook. Moving to Delaware in
1965, Dorothy enjoyed gardening and canning, especially various jellies. Her
suitcase was always packed, and she was ready and willing for any travel
adventure. Dorothy had visited 40 of the 50 states. But she favored the hills
of West Virginia and her familys roots. Dorothy
also enjoyed trips to the casino to try her luck at the slots as well as the
lottery. Feisty at times, she was strong willed, opinionated and a very
capable woman. As one who enjoyed good conversation she was happiest around
her treasured family. Those left to cherish her
memory include her children, Nellie Tackett Brokaw of Orlando, Fla., Judy
Morrow of Delaware, Ruth Ann (Gene) Blair of Thompson, Betty Maroney of
Whitehall, Harold (Donna) Collins of Marengo, Alice (Beacher)

Columbus and Donna (Jeff) Gardner of Whitehall; 17 grandchildren, Mike,
Roger, Jesse, Steve and Ron Tackett, Mary Richards, David Morrow, Diane
Calderone, April Blair, Jeff, Andrew, Doug and Scott Collins, Rick and
Rebecca Vance, Whitney Yoho and Grace Gardner; numerous great-grandchildren

Portsmouth, OH. He was born March 4, 1937,
in Slabfork, W. Va., a son of the late Jesse and Sirrilda Canaday Collins. On
June 6, 1962, he was united in marriage to Delores Allen Canaday,
who survives. Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Tim and Pam Hattle of Beaver, O., three grandchildren, Jared,
Timothy, and Courtney Hattle; five sisters, Dorthey
Collins of Delaware, O., Eula Coulter of Crab Orchard, W.Va., Zora (Leonard)
Tackett of Franklin Furnace, O., Dora (Jim) Frick of Hemphill, Texas, and
Louise Scott of Waverly, O.; two stepbrothers, George (Marilyn) Collins of
Beaver, O., and Dave (Florence) Collins of Sophia, W.Va.; and one stepsister,
Rozina Farmer of Midway, W.Va. He was preceded in death by three brothers,
Junior, Russell, and Joy Canaday; three sisters,
Bonnie McDaniel, Helen Pyle, and Norma Acord; stepfather, Sonnie
Collins; two stepbrothers, Junior and Virgil Collins; and two stepsisters,
Ann Lee Davis and Mabel Carpenter. Buddy was owner &
operator of J.B. Construction Co., was a member of Allen Chapel Church,
member of Carpenters Union Local #437, served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to
1962, served as Mayor of Beaver, O. from August 8, 1994 to December 4, 1996,
served as Beaver Council member from May 5, 1982 to August 8, 1994, and was a
former Democratic Committeeman for Marion Township. Funeral services will be
1:00 p.m. Thursday at Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastors Fred Williams
and Donnie Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Chapel Cemetery

daughters, Carroll Stewart of Sterling, VA; Merle Jones of Boyce, VA; Darla
Walters of Springfield, VA; and Gloria Byrd of Paris, VA; two sons, Bobbie
Canada of Brookline, NH; and Jimmy Canada of Saulsville;
three sisters, Hester Murphree and Sue Jennings both of Mullens; and Hallie

Federal Government in 2000 after 23 years of service. She was a dedicated
volunteer at Winchester Medical Center and an active member of Boyce Baptist
Church. She is survived by her

Jones and his wife, Andrea, of Stephens City; grandchildren, Alexa, Alayna
and Addisyn; three sisters, Carroll Stewart of Wytheville, Darla Walters of
Stephens City and Gloria Byrd of Winchester; two brothers Bobbie Canada of Brookline,
NH and Jimmy Canada of Saulsville, WV; and many
cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her brother Billie Mack

while returning to his home on Black Fork near Saulsville
from a neighbor's where he had gone to visit and watch television earlier in
the evening. A son Ira, who was present
at the time, said his father was stricken as they were walking home after
complaining that he was tired and had to stop and rest. Born 16 Dec 1875 on Micajah Ridge, he was a son of the late John and Rosabelle Evans Canada and was a member of the Primitive
Baptist Church at Pierpoint. His wife, Margaret
died in March 1955. Survivors include two other
sons, and a daughter, John, Douglas, and Bertha, all of Mullens; three
brothers, Milas of Shawnee Lake; Zeb of near Maben;
and Flem of Odd; a sister, Mrs. Burton Polk of Ravencliff; and four grandchildren. Services will be conducted

Christiansburg, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 17,
2010. He was born on April 2, 1921, in Saulsville,
W.Va., the eighth of eleven children born to Fleming and Charlotte Canada.
Mr. Canada has one surviving brother, Ulvert
Canada, of Grantville, Ga. Mr. Canada served in the
United States Army at the end of World War II as part of the occupying forces
in Japan. He was a coal miner for over 20 years in Wyoming County, W.Va.,
prior to moving to Christiansburg, Va., where he was a barber for many years
under the name of "Red Canada's Barber Shop." He is survived by his
loving wife of 69 years, Maxine S. Canada; son, Lloyd H. (Marcia) Canada, of Stanardsville, Va.; son, Jerry L. (Lane) Canada, of
Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren, Michelle C. (Greg) Proffitt, Heather C.
(Doug) Nothstine, Benjamin B. (Denise) Canada,
Jennie C. (Brian) Weeks, and Adam H. (Melanie) Canada; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be
conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Gateway Baptist Church,
Blacksburg, Va., by Dr. Scott Souther and the Rev.
Dewey Weaver Jr. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Horne Funeral
Home, Christiansburg, Va., from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to Gateway Baptist Church, 2196 Harding Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent and loving care of the
entire staff of 2nd Floor North, Friendship Health and Rehabilitation Center,

79, passed away Thursday, 1 July 2004, at her daughters residence following
a long illness. Born Nov. 10, 1924, in
Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late John Chapman and Cynthia
Green Canada. Mrs. Canada was a member of
Coon Fork Baptist Church, Keyrock. She enjoyed
working in her garden. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survirors
include her daughter, Sandra Sue McKinney and her husband Gale, of Skin Fork;
two sisters, Arthie Privett
of Gary; and Eveline Cox, of Va; five grandchildren
and 7 great-grandchildren. Service will be 1:p.m.
today at Coon Fork Baptist Church, Keyrock, with
the Revs. Gary Ford and Charles Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in the
Canada Family Cemetery, Saulsville. 2004 Burial:
