John Banks Service: Mary, his widow filed a pension application which is in the National Archives No. W-25217. (pg. 48 N.H.S. Pension Index) John Banks served in the American Revolution in troops from NJ. His record shows that in Sept 1776 her was engaged in a skirmish at Staten Island under Capt. Archibald Morfitt and Col. James Ellis. In 1778 while serving under Capt. John Cozens, he was taken prisoner by the British on Mar 9th and held for 3 months. He also served under his father Capt Richard Banks in Gloucester Co., NJ. See DAR No. 398310. (p. 19 N.J. V22)
