Sept. 30, 1993, at Muscatine General Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Mulford Evangelical
Free Churchildren with the Revs. Calvin C. Swan and
James Leonard officiating. Barbara Bartelt will be
organist. Vocalist will be the Rev. James Leonard. Pallbearers will be Ralph
Freese, Ira Temple, Jerry Schreiber, Edward Bartelt,
Wilfred Werner and Donald Gesell. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Miller,
Donald Lange, Art Bunn, Bill Bishop and Arnold Pulliam. Burial will be at the
Oak Grove Cemetery at Cranston. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the
Mulford Evangelical Free Church. Mr. Amos was born Jan. 21, 1903, at Rock Camp, W.Va., a son of
Charles Thomas and Bessie Elizabeth Harvey Amos. He had lived in Muscatine
for more than 60 years. On April 4, 1926, he married Opal L. Coder at Cranston. He was a member of the Mulford Evangelical Free Church. His employment for his entire life was with woodworking, starting
his career at a clothespin factory and retired from the sash and door
department at the Rock Island Millworks. Survivors include one son, Floyd L. Amos of Muscatine; three daughter,s, Mrs. Harold (Marion) Hubbard of Bettendorf,
Mrs. David (Alice) Lissner of Minneapolis, Minn.,
and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Hilbrant of Muscatine; 18
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one brother, Eugene Amos of Fort Myers
Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Lenora Comer of Princeton, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1983, his parents, two
sons, George and Paul, three brothers, three sisters and one grandson. 1993 Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Muscatine

2, 2007, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va., surrounded by
family and friends. Born pt. 20, 1917, in Richwood, she was the daughter, of
the latee Charles Thomas and Bessie Elizabeth
Harvey Amos. Mrs. Comer graduated from Richwood High School. Lenora was a
member of the Glen Lyn Church of Christ. She was very
active in the church, especially enjoyed her Ladies' Sunday School
Class. Some of her favorite pastimes included sitting on her porch swing and
watching the hummingbirds and going shopping with the ladies of the church.
Mrs. Comer always enjoyed being surrounded by her large and loving family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Raymond H. Comer Sr.; one son, Charles E. Comer; an infant
daughter,, Elizabeth Comer along with four brothers and three sisters. Those left to cherish her loving memory, her children, Raymond
(Junior) H. Comer and wife Geneva of Ft. Washington, Md., William (Billy)
Comer and wife Patricia of Pearisburg Va., James (Jimmy) Comer and wife Janet
of Clemmons, N.C., Nancy Long of Princeton, Linda Taylor of Summersville,
Susie Wilson and husband Rick of Princeton, Betty Bennett and husband Phillip
of Princeton; daughter, in law, Phyllis Comer of Princeton; brother, Eugene
Amos of Warrington, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and a host
of nephews and nieces and several special friends from the church. On Monday, May 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., we will celebrate the home
going of Mrs. Lenora Comer at the Glen Lyn Church of Christ, Glen Lyn, Va.
with Eddie Jones and Danny Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the
