Percy William Turner, 55, of 2863 Harrison, yardmaster for O.U.R. & D. died at three p.m. Sunday in a local hospital after
a heart ailment.
Mr. Turner was born Nov. 13, 1894 in Burmingzee, Eng., a son of William and Bertha Crane Turner.
He was a member of the Ogden Elks Club, Union Pacific Old Timers Club, the Railroad Yardmasters of America, and the Order of
Railway Conductors. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Beatrice N. Turner, Ogden; a daughter, Jodi Turner, Ogden; and the following
sons and daughters by a former marriage: Mrs. Mike (Bertha) Christiaens, Clearfield; Mrs. Martin (Alice) McFarland; Mrs. Bill (Maxine)
Smith, Bud, Carl, David and Ernest Lawrence, Ogden; and Mrs. Edward (Lorraine) Dombrowski, Reading, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; his
mother, Mrs. Ernest Lawrence, Ogden; also two sisters and a brother, Mrs. William Alexander, Mrs. Leonard Cashmore, and Albert Turner,
Ogden. The body is at the mortuary, 544 Twenty-sixth.

GARNER, Mary Rosetta

HOOPER – Mrs. Mary Rosetta Garner, 87, resident of Hooper for 71 years, died at her home yesterday at one-thirty p.m.

Mrs. Garner was born Feb. 2, 1863, in Mountain Green, Morgan county, a daughter of Joseph W. and Abigail Higley Wadsworth.

She moved to Hooper in 1879.

She was married to Joseph Ephraim Garner of Feb. 20, 1884, in L.D.S. SaltLake endowment house.

She had been an active L.D.S. Relief society worker in Hooper ward and was a charter member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, camp V.

Surviving are her husband, a son and six daughters, Mrs. Effie Chapple, Ogden; Mrs. Frank (Edith) Arave, Taylor, Idaho; Mrs. Orson (Zina) Cottle, Mrs. Ben (Vergie) Manning; Mrs. Frank (LaVon) Read, and Orlin L. Garner, Hooper, and Mrs. Maine (Della) France, Shelley, Idaho; a half-brother and three half-sisters, Arch Wadsworth, Mrs. Alice Simpson and Mrs. Annie Simpson, Hooper, and Mrs. Nora Hunt, Idaho Falls, Idaho; also 38 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

The body is at the mortuary, 3408 Washington.

WADSWORTH, Martha Ann Hardy

HOOPER---Mrs. Martha Ann Hardy Wadsworth, 82, widow of William Myron Wadsworth, died today at the family home in Hooper.
Mrs. Wadsworth had been an active member of the LDS Church.
When 14 years of age she was one of the charter members of the first Relief Society in Hooper and had been a teacher in the Relief Society for the past 45 years.
As a young girl she taught in Sunday School, Primary and YMIA.
She was assistant in the first genealogical group in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp V., and served as captain when a young woman.
At one time she served as president of the Women’s Farm Bureau Local Auxiliary. She was well-known as a practical nurse in Hooper.
She was born Dec. 17, 1870, in Hooper, a daughter of Elisha Philbrook and Flora Worlton Hardy. She had lived most of her life in Hooper with the exception of living in Morgan when a child.
On Jan. 26, 1886, she was married to Mr. Wadsworth in the LDS Logan Temple. He died Jan. 2, 1938, in Hooper.

Fulton, San Francisco; Mrs. W. Ray (Lida) Rigby, Grace, Idaho; Mrs. Carl (Iris) Sowell, Echo; 28 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, one brother: Charles William Hardy, Salt Lake City, and six sisters: Mrs. Lucinda Olsen, Burley, Idaho; Mrs. George (Nellie) West, Ogden; Mrs. Margaret Toone, Layton, Mrs. Belle Durrant, San Mateo, Calif.; Mrs. Wallace (Bertha) Dickson, Morgan, and Mrs. A.D. (Lillian) West, Fresno, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the LDS Hooper First Ward, Bishop Lorin E. Munn officiating.
Friends may call at the family home Thursday after 4 p.m. and Friday until 12:30 p.m.
Interment will be in the Hooper Cemetery directed by Lindquist and Sons Colonial Funeral Chapel, 348 Washington Blvd.

CORDRAY, Creed J.

Creed J. Cordray, infant son of Harry and Lilly Vigil Cordray, died Nov. 23 in Yokahama, Japan, it was learned here yesterday. The parents are members of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton.
He is survived by the parents, one brother and two sisters, Bobby, Bonnie and Dennen all of Yokahama, Japan and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vigil, of Laytona, and Mrs. George Cordray, of Ohio.
Holy rosary will be said Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Sunset Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Clearfield Memorial Park.

COMBE, Michael

Michael Combe, 92, of RFD 4, Ogden, died yesterday at his home of causes incident to age.
Mr. Combe came to Ogden 63 years ago and had owned and operated a farm.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
He was born Sept. 24, 1861, in Lurin, Italy, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Combe. He was reared and educated in Italy.
In 1867 he married Anne Garro in Pedmont, Italy, she died six years ago.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter: Jule Combe, Ogden; Michael (Mike) Combe, Jr., Ogden; Mrs. Rachael Mollahan, California, and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Aultorest Mortuary, 836 36th St., Rev. A. Cadman Garretson of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary chapel tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday until service. Interment will be in Aultorest Memorial Park.

BRIGGS, Robert

Robert Lyman Briggs, 70, of 226 Patterson St., formerly of Hooper, died this morning in St. Benedict’s Hospital.
Mr. Briggs had been employed by the Union Pacific Railroad Co., retiring in 1946.
He was a member of the LDS Eleventh Ward and former member of the Hooper Ward where he was a seventy.
He was born May 18, 1885, in Fairview, Utah, a son of Joseph and Tammer Ann Washburn Briggs, He lived in Fairview until a young man when he moved to Hooper. Three months ago he moved to Ogden.
On Jan. 13, 1913, he married Pearl Jones in Ogden.
Surviving are his widow, Ogden; three sons and one daughter, Robert E. Briggs, Ogden; Fay R. Briggs, Clearfield; Albert L. Briggs and Mrs. Earl (Ruby) Layne, both of Stockton, Calif.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters, Dan Briggs, Tremonton; Joseph Briggs, Mrs. Burnett Vance, Mrs. Clarence (Elizabeth) Cox and Mrs. Ann Vance, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs.Pearl Rasmussen, Sacramento, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the LDS Hooper First Ward by Bishop Mac S. Taft.

MANNING, Benjamin

HOOPER – Benjamin Manning, 66, of Hooper, died yesterday in the Dee Hospital.

Mr. Manning was born Sept. 15, 1892, in Hooper, a son of Joseph and Josephine Gwillian Manning.

He had lived in Hooper all his life and attended Weber County schools and was formerly employed at the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot, Utah State Road Commission and Hooper Irrigation Co.

He was an elder in the LDS Hooper Second Ward and formerly served as second counselor in the YMMIA and as a ward teacher.

On Nov. 20, 1918, he married Virgie Garner in the LDS Salt Lake Temple.

Surviving are his widow, three sons and six daughters, Claude Manning, Huron, S.D.; Ralph Manning, Big Piney, Wyo.; Gerald Manning and Mrs. William (Mary) Johnson, Hooper; Mrs. Jay (Theda) Cox, Shelley, Idaho; Mrs. Wilbur (Margaret) McCracken, Mrs. Henry (Cleone) Moore, Mrs. Tracey (Margene) Wheatley, all of Roy; Mrs. Carl (Belva) King, Layton; 24 grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Alfred Manning, Hooper; James Manning, Riverdale; Mrs. William (Mable) Wadsworth, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m in the LDS Hooper Second Ward by Bishop Francis V. Simpson.

TODD, Emily Halliday

Mrs. Emily Halliday Todd, 70. 2629 Madison, died yesterday at her home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Todd was born Nov. 4, 1889, in Ogden Canyon, a daughter of Stephen and Agnes Simpson Halliday.
She was a member of the LDS Fifth Ward and a former Sunday School Teacher and Relief Society visiting teacher. She was past president of the Weber County Farm Bureau auxillary.
On Feb. 16, 1910, she was married to Joseph W. Todd in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in South Hooper, in Kanesville for 40 years and in Hamilton, Mont., for two years, returning to Ogden in 1952.
Surviving are her husband, Ogden; two sons and two daughters, Joseph C. Todd, Kanesville; Clarence Todd, Ravalli, Mont.; Mrs. Paul (Agnes) Fife, Hamilton, Mont.; Mrs. Alma (Myrtle) Knight, West Warren; 23 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, her mother of Roy, the following brothers and sisters: Glen Halliday, Leslie Halliday, both of Glendale, Calif.; Leo Halliday, Grover City, Calif.; Edwin Halliday, Kaysville; Mrs. Mary Fowles, Ogden; Mrs. Fred Dalton, Ogden; Mrs. Charles Pulsipher, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Robert McCall, Oakland, Calif.

ARAVE, Velma Wilcox

Velma Wilcox Arave, 58, of Hooper, died Saturday at Dee Hospital following a stroke.
Mrs. Arave was born July 12, 1902, in Paris, Idaho, the daughter of Joseph C. and Clara Humphreys Wilcox.
She resided in Paris and Montpelier until 1913 when the family moved to Clearfield, Utah. She was educated in Montpelier and Davis County Schools.
On March 22, 1922, she married Roy Ervin Arave in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had resided in Roy since.
Mrs. Arave was a member of the LDS Hooper Second Ward where she had been an active church worker and president of the Relief Society fro many years.
Surviving are her husband, three sons and two daughters, Don W., of Hooper; Calvin R. of Richmond, Va.; Carl J. of Clinton; Mrs. William (Louise) Huish of Orem, and Mrs. Don (Sherma) Johnston of Ogden; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lorenzo (Vera) Belnap of Hooper; and Mrs. Floyd G. (Verlene) Olsen of Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Hooper Second Ward chapel with Bishop C. Clyde Lowe officiating.

HALLIDAY, Agnes Noble Simpson

Mrs. Agnes Noble Simpson Halliday, 91, 2137 Ogden, died last night at the Weber County Chronic Disease Hospital.
Mrs. Halliday was born June 3, 1870, in West Weber, a daughter of William and Isabella Jardine Simpson.
She was a member of the Second Ward and had worked in the Relief Society of the Second and Eleventh and Hooper wards.
She had been active in genealogical and temple work. She lived in Clinton and West Point, Utah, and Oakland, Calif., prior to coming to Utah in 1931.
On Nov. 2, 1886, she was married to Stephen E. Halliday in Hooper. They later received endowments in the Logan Temple.
Mr. Halliday died March 10, 1940, in Ogden.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters, Glen and Leslie Halliday, Glendale, Calif.; Leo Halliday, Alpine, Calif.; Edwin Halliday, Kaysville; Mrs. Charles (Myrtle) Pulsipher, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Fowles, Mrs. Charles F. (Lythia) Dalton, both of Ogden; 36 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Lilly) Arave, Hooper; Mrs. Ellison (Nell) Schofield, Pingree, Idaho.

ECHO ---Carl Sowell, 66, Echo, died this morning at the Dee Hospital of a brain hemorrhage.

Mr. Sowell was born Feb. 21, 1896, in Conway, Ark., a son of John Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Talbert Sowell.

On Oct. 6, 1927, he was married to Iris Wadsworth in Salt Lake City.

He had resided in Echo for the past 35 years. He was a railroad telegrapher for the Union Pacific Co. He was a member Union Pacific Old Timers Club in Ogden and Brotherhood of Railroad Telegraphers. He was a member of the Echo Ward and a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Carl Wesley Sowell, Hermiston, Ore.; Clyde E. Sowell, Ogden; one daughter, Mrs. Harvey W. (Ilah Jean) Holdeman, Hooper; 10 grandchildren, four brothers, Freeman Sowell, Kennett, Mo.; M.J. Sowell, Delmar, Del.; Harmon Sowell, Cabot, Ark.; O.T. Mrs. Pearl Jones Briggs, 74, of 226 Patterson, died Friday at her home of natural causes.
Mrs. Briggs was born Nov. 18, 1889, in Hooper, the daughter of Thomas M. and Pheobe Jane Watts Jones.
On Jan. 13, 1913, she married Robert Lyman Briggs in Ogden. They received endowments in the Salt Lake Temple June 20, 1923. Mr. Briggs died March 8, 1956, in Ogden.
She had been a resident of Hooper for 66 years and lived in Ogden the past eight years.
She was a member of the Eleventh Ward, member of the Relief Society and was formerly active in genealogy work. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Chapter 37.
Surviving are three sons, Albert L. Briggs, Marysville, Calif.; Robert L. Briggs, Salt Lake City and Fay R. Briggs, Clearfield; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Ruby) Layne, Roy; eight grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and three sisters; Mrs. Milton (Hazel) Imes, Ogden; Mrs. Katherine Wilson and Mrs. Phebe Drumm both of Merced, Calif.

MITCHELL, Mrs. Cassie

HOOPER – Mrs. Cassie Mitchell, 66, of Hooper, teacher in Ogden City and Weber County schools for almost 40 years, died Wednesday at the Dee Hospital.

Mrs. Mitchell started teaching in the Weber County schools in 1916, and taught in Kanesville, Hooper and Roy.

She had been a teacher in the Mound Fort, Lewis, Quincy, Polk, Lorin Farr, Madison and T.O. Smith schools.

A first grade teacher most of the time, she helped establish and develop a new format for better first grade teaching methods. She retired in 1960.

BORN IN OGDEN

Mrs. Mitchell was born Dec. 2, 1897, in Ogden, a daughter of E. George and Isabelle McIntyre Parker.

On June 27, 1918, she was married to Lew Mitchell in the Salt Lake Temple.

She was a member and former president and secretary of Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary teachers’ society, and member of the Utah Education Association, National Education Association and Ogden Education Association.

She was a member of the Hooper Second Ward and was a coordinator of Junior Sunday School for many years and had been a teacher in the Sunday School.

Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Wayne J. (Arlene) Christensen, Port Hueneme, Calif.; three grandchildren, four brothers, E.J. (Ted) Parker, Hooper; John L. (Jack) Parker, Tucson, Ariz.; Albert N. (Bert) Parker, Salt Lake City; Dean M. Parker, Harrisville.

HOOPER – Miss Marian Rosetta (Rose) Mitchell, 76, of Hooper, retired school teacher, died Thursday morning in an Ogden rest home of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Miss Mitchell was born Dec. 23, 1887, in Hooper, a daughter of John and Ann Jones Mitchell.

She had been a resident of Hooper all her life.

She was a member of the Hooper Second Ward and had been a Primary, Sunday School and religion class teacher, former member of the MIA presidency and teacher, trainer in the Primary.

She attended Hooper Elementary School, Weber Academy and received her BA degree from the University of Utah.

She had taught school in Taylor, Kanesville, Hooper, Layton and Declo , Idaho, and retired in 1953.

Surviving are two brothers, Lew Mitchell, Hooper, and David L. Mitchell, Ogden; four sisters , Mrs. Nettie Smith, Eden; Mrs. Josephine Manning, Burley, Idaho; Miss Effie Fowers, Mrs. Florence Manning, both of Hooper.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Hooper Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Albert Fielding officiating.

Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Mortuary Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and at the ward chapel Monday from 12 noon until 1 p.m.

JONES, Donald L.

Donald Lawrence Jones, 46, of 101 Harrison died Monday at the Dee Hospital.
Mr. Jones was born May 27, 1917 in Hooper, a son of Hyrum G. and Florence Flinders Jones. On June 15, 1940, he was married to Dolores Monson in Ogden.
He had been employed as a switchman for the Ogden Union Railway and Depot Co. During World War II he served in the Navy. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Forty-eighth Ward.
Surviving are his widow, three brothers and three sisters, Alton Jones, Edsel Jones, both of Hooper; Clyde Jones, Chandler, Ariz; Mrs. Willard (Elda) Flint, West Point; Mrs. Vern (Edna) Thurgood, Syracuse; Mrs. Elwood (Eva) Dawson, Sunset.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Meyers Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Millard Michaelson of the Forty-eighth Ward officiating.

Nellie H. Weller

Mrs. Nellie Ann Howell Weller, 92, of 447 34th, died this morning at the Dee Hospital.

Mrs. Weller was born Nov. 3, 1872, in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of William and Ellen Stevens Howell. On April 2, 1892, she was married to Jesse H. Weller in Hooper. Mr. Weller died in 1953.

She was a member of the LDS Twenty-eighth Ward and had been active in the Relief Society and was a visiting teacher. She was formerly a member of the Fourth, Sixth and Twenty-fourth wards.

Surviving are one son and two daughters, Elmer D. Weller, San Francisco; Mrs. George (Hazel) Timmerman, Los Angeles; Mrs. Charles H. (Ethel) Naylor, Ogden; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren.

YAMASHITA, Frank

Headline: Frank Yamashita-Drowning Victim-Hooper Man Drowns In Dakota Lake

HOOPER --- A Hooper man drowned while swimming near Aberdeen, S.D., Tuesday night.

He was Frank Yamashita, 39. The body was recovered within minutes after the search began in Richmond Lake.

Mr. Yamashita had been swimming with companions when they noticed he was missing about 7 p.m.

Mr. Yamashita was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Hooper, a son of Matsujiro and Tome Koyanagi Yamashita. In August 1945 he was married to Natsuko Ito in Elko, Nev.

On Dec. 19, 1900, she was married to James Oscar Child in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was a member of the Hooper LDS First Ward and was active in auxiliary organizations and was ward organist. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served as Carbon County president for two years. She was a volunteer worker at the Price Hospital for nine years.

Surviving are her husband, three sons, Oscar Vaun Child, Long Beach, Calif.; Harold W. Child, Ogden; Donald M. Child, Salt Lake City; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Olive) Phillips, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Elmer (Eva) Moss, Ogden; Mrs. Clyde (Viola) Fletcher, Moses Lake, Wash.; Mrs. Harold (Norma) Jackson, Hooper; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, one brother, William H. Mrs. Ellen Matilda King Jones, 89, of 820 W. 25th, died Monday afternoon at the Dee Hospital of causes incident to age.

Mrs. Jones was born June 11, 1876, in Kaysville, a daughter of Hyrum Smith and Alice Bennett King, Sr.

On Feb. 17, 1897, she was married to Oscar Thomas Jones in the Salt Lake Endowment House. He died May 18, 1952.

She had been a resident of Kaysville, West Point and Roy before coming to Ogden in 1926. She was a member of the Sixteenth LDS Ward and had served as chorister, MIA counselor and Relief Society visiting teacher 57 years. She was a charter member of Miles Goodyear Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, West Company. She was a temple and genealogy worker.

She and her husband operated the Vel-Donna Canning Co. and Buffet Potato Chip Co.

Surviving are two sons, Wallace L. Jones, Salt Lake City; Archie L. Jones, Ogden; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth G. (Luella) Dustin, Mrs. John A. (Neta) Felter, both of Ogden; 14 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Archa W. King, Ogden; one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Olive) King, West Point.

Mr. Coop was born April 25, 1880, in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, a son of Albert and Elizabeth Schofield Coop. He came to the United States with his parent when 3 years old.
On Jan. 11, 1904, he was married to Sarah Almyra Tracy in Willow Creek, Idaho. She died May 12, 1936. On Sept. 11, 1939, he was married to Barbara Fowers Johnson in Ogden.
He had been a rancher and cattleman in Montana and Idaho. He came to Ogden in 1908 and had worked as a meatcutter for Coop Stores, American Packing and Provision Co. and Swift and Co.
He retired from Swift and Co. in 1951 and was later a meatcutter for the LDS Welfare Center.
He was a member of the Meatcutters Union, Woodmen of the World and LDS Eleventh Ward.
Surviving are his widow, two sons and two daughters, Wilmer T. Coop; Mrs. George N. (Alberta) Fower, Mrs. Dorothy Johnston, all of Ogden; Orville R. He was a high priest in the Roy LDS Fifth Ward and had been an instructor in the high priest group and a Sunday School teacher. He served an LDS mission to England in 1913. He attended Weber Academy.

Herbert Glenn Vance, Sr., 70, of 4758 S. 1150 W., died this morning at his home of a heart ailment.
Mr. Vance was born Sept. 8, 1895, in Ogden, a son of Abner B. and Mary Furniss Vance.
On Oct. 18, 1916, he was married to Belva Dawson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He started as a call boy for the Southern Pacific Co. in 1911 and was later a machinist apprentice in Ogden, general foreman at Ogden and Sparks, Nev.; Master mechanic at Portland, Ore., and El Paso, Tex., and superintendent in the Sacramento, Calif., general shops. He retired in 1955 due to poor health after 44 years of continuous service.
He was a member of the L.D.S. Riverdale ward and had been a counselor in the bishopric for six years. He had been secretary of the High Priests Quorum in the Riverdale ward and Riverdale stake, MIA counselor, member of the ward welfare committee, and scout leader in Sacramento, and a member of the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are his widow, one son, H.G. Vance, Jr., Ogden; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Donna) Loper, Ashfield, Ore.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

He was active in the auxillaries of the Thatcher LDS Ward for many years.
He was a retired farmer.

Mrs. Weber was born July 14, 1887, in Assumption, Ill., a daughter of Joseph L. and Eleanor Watson Radford.
She was married to James H. Weber on March 26, 1911, in Lebanon, Mo. Mr. Weber died 1948.
She had resided in Ogden past 17 years and was a member of the 46th LDS Ward.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Harold A. Weber, Syracuse; Herbert W. Weber, Sacramento, Calif.; Lloyd W. Weber, Mrs. Vincent (Mildred) Kopinski, both of Ogden; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister, Claude W. Radford and Mrs. Bernice Bridge, both of Walsh, Colo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Larkin Chapel of the Dawn with Bishop Keith E. Atkinson of the 46th Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday until services.
The body will be shipped to Crane, Mo., for burial.

SALT LAKE CITY---Mrs. Glen Pratt May, 77, of 1227 E. 21st S., died of natural causes Sunday in a Bountiful hospital.
Mrs. May was born May 21, 1890, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Milson Ross and Jemimah G. Vincent Kilgore Pratt.
On Feb. 8, 1911, she was married to Millard L. May in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. May died April 7, 1961.

Mr. Pebley was born Oct. 29, 1891, in Alliance, Neb., a son of Nathan O’Brien and Nettie Bowers Pebley.
He was reared and educated in Nebraska.
He was married to Esther Elizabeth Hedin on May 28, 1914, in Oshkosh, Neb. She died in 1938.
He resided in Nebraska until moving to Brigham City in 1925 and came to Ogden in 1927. He had been a farmer.
Surviving are two sons and four daughters, Kenneth S. Pebley, Mrs. Leonard (Betty) Kendell, both of Uintah; Clyde Pebley, Mrs. Townley (Pearl) Brian, Mrs. Elwood (Lois) White, all of Ogden; Mrs. George (Frances) Child, Riverdale; 32 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bertagnolli was born March 30, 1901, in Arzio-Brez, Trentino, Austria, a daughter of John and Marie Corazza Rauzi.
She was married to Louis Bertagnolli on Jan. 5, 1929, in Rock Springs, Wyo.
The couple resided in Superior, Wyo., until moving to Ogden eight years ago.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Mrs. Martin was born July 10, 1873, in Paddington, London, England, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Clarke Ashford.
She was married to Samuel Martin on Nov. 23, 1897, in Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa. He died Jan. 24, 1948.
She came to the United States in 1916 and had lived in Ogden from 1916 to 1948.
She was a Relief Society visiting teacher in the LDS Church for 32 years.

Joseph Parsons, 74, of 3845 Quincy, died this morning at the Dee Hospital of natural causes.
Mr. Parsons was born May 12, 1894, in Blackheath, England, a son of William and Emma Jane Willets Parsons.
He was reared and educated in England and came to the United States in 1911, settling in Ogden.
On June 24, 1914, he was married to Martha Evans in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He had worked for the Ogden Union Railway & Depot Co. and in 1912 started as a pipefitter for the Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1958.
He was a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers Club and BPO Elks 719. He was a member of the 34th LDS Ward and had been a member of the Ogden Tabernacle Choir and Southern Pacific Glee Club and had been a vocalist in the intermountain area. He played for the Ogden Soccer Club in the 1920s.
Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. J. Howard (Margaret) Bodily, Mrs. Ralph (Naomi) Heiner, Mrs. Ray James (Evelyn) Hill, all of Ogden; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Si W. Mr. Heap was born July 17, 1899, in Thayne, Wyo., a son of Marion and Evelina Miller Heap.
He had lived most of his life in Ogden and formerly lived in Thayne, Wyo., Blackfoot, Idaho, and Salt Lake City.
He was owner and manager of L.R. Samuels Beauty Salon and the Palette House of Beauty at the Ben Lomond Hotel.
On Dec. 23, 1920, he was married to Laura I. Tolman in Farmington, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Aug. 24, 1926.

He was former manager of the Mutual Creamery Co. in Thayne, Wyo., and Croft Cheese Co. in Blackfoot, Idaho.

POCATELLO, Idaho---Mrs. Betty Ann Slama Smith Perkins, 42, of 1155 Fremont, Pocatello, former Ogden resident, died Sunday evening in a Pocatello hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident May 5.
Mrs. Perkins was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Ogden, a daughter of James L. and Josephine Twitchell Slama.
She was educated in Ogden City schools and had worked for the Broadbent Drug Store in Ogden, Ogden Arsenal and Clearfield Naval Supply Depot.
In 1946 she was married to Clifton Smith in Clearfield. They were divorced. She was married to Jack Perkins in 1953 in Elko, Nev. They were later divorced.
She moved to Pocatello in 1958 where she had been a seamstress.

CHURCH MEMBER

She was a member of the LDS Church and a Cub Scout Den Mother in Pocatello.
Surviving are three sons, Daniel G. “Smokey” Smith, Loran Brett Perkins, Anthony Paul Perkins, all of Pocatello; one daughter, Miss Cindie Ray Perkins, Pocatello; her parents of Ogden, one grandmother, Mrs. Anna Montgomery, California; two brothers, James L. Slama, Amos D. Slama, both of Ogden.

He was a member of the 31st LDS Ward and served with the Army during World War I.

grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Vera Bybee, Ogden.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel with Bishop Raymond Orton of the
1st Ward conducting.
Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until services.
Burial will be in the Teton, Idaho City Cemetery Monday at 4 p.m.

Sunset---Mrs. Nola T. Eddy, 46, of 116 W. 800 N., died this morning at her home.
Mrs. Eddy was born Apr. 21, 1922, in Centerfield, Utah, a daughter of Leanord and Clara Barney Thompson.
She had lived the past 10 years in Sunset, and formerly resided in Clearfield.
She was married to Walter Eddy in Ogden on June 12, 1947.
She had worked several years at Utah General Depot.
She was a member of the Sunset 4th LDS Ward.
Surviving are her husband, two sons and one daughter, Walter R. Eddy Jr., serving an LDS mission in Germany; Kim Jeffery Eddy, Sunset; Mrs. Jerry (Marsha) Hess, Clearfield; one grandchild, her parents of Tooele, three brothers and two sisters, Jack L. Guy L. Wecker

Guy L. Wecker, 71, of 3012 Porter, was dead on arrival at the Dee Hospital this morning of a heart attack.
Mr. Wrecker was born Jan. 18, 1897, in Ogden, a son of Ernest J. and Lavina Simpson Wecker.
He was married to Margaret Blair on May 10, 1918, in Brigham City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He retired in 1966 as an engineer for the Ogden Union Railway and Depot Co.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Eagles Lodge.
He was a member of the LDS Weber Stake High Priest Quorum and was a home teacher and genealogist in the 9th Ward.
Surviving are his widow; one son, John G. Wecker, Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter,

Vearl L. Whitehall

Vearl Lynn Whitehall, 54, of 2833 Grant, died Friday afternoon at the Dee Hospital of natural causes.
Mr. Whitehall was born April 20, 1914, in Farmer, Wash., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Orla Whitehall.
He was married to Beatrice Tollum on Sept. 27, 1948, in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.
He had resided in Ogden the past nine years and had been a technical engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation.
Surviving are his widow, three sons and two daughters, Dennis L. Whitehall, Neil E. Whitehall, Vicki Lee Whitehall, Susan Whitehall, all of Ogden; Michael Long, Wenatchee, Wash.; three brothers and one sister, Glen Whitehall, Aurel Whitehall and Mrs. Dowell (Berniece) Bowyer, all of Wenatchee, Wash.; Elden E. Whitehall, Seattle, Wash.
The body will be shipped to Wenatchee by Larkin and Sons Mortuary for services and burial.

ROY---David Ivan Clemens, 50, of 2115 W. 5700 S., died Thursday evening at the Dee Hospital of natural causes.
Mr. Clemens was born March 12, 1918, in Sterling, Utah, a son of David and Emerett Funk Clemens.
He was married to Hazel Mickelson on Aug. 9, 1954, in Manti. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was an active member of the Roy 8th LDS Ward and served with the Army during World War II.
He had lived in Roy the past 11 years and was employed by the Davis School District.
Surviving are his widow, one son, Craig Clemens, one daughter, Carla Clemens, all of Roy; his mother, Mrs. William Munk, Manti; one sister, Mrs. Morris (Maxine) Edwards, Lark, Utah; one brother, Otto Clemens, Bellflower, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at the Manti LDS South Ward Chapel Monday at 1 p.m.

HOOPER---Shikazo Yamashita, 65, of Hooper, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City after a short illness.
Mr. Yamashita was born Dec. 20, 1902, in Fukuoka, Japan, a son of Ichitaro and Natsu Yamashita.
On June 1, 1933, he was married to Suzie Hashimoto in Deweyville, Utah. She died April 28, 1967.
He came to the United States in 1919 and had lived in Hooper, Bingham and Deweyville, returning to Hooper in 1939.
He had been a farmer and was a railroad sectionman for Union Pacific Railroad Co.
He was a member of the Japanese Farmers Association and Ogden Buddhist Church.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Hiroshi Yamashita, Hooper; Kay K. Yamashita, San Bruno, Calif.; Mrs. Ryuil (Emiko) Hiresone, Roy;
three grandchildren, two brothers in Japan.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Ogden Buddhist Church, 155 North St., with Rev. Masonori O. Hata officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Monday after 12:30 p.m.

Miss Mahoney was born in Gurdon, Ark., a daughter of Timothy and Ida Lambert Mahoney.
She was a business instructor at the Stevens Henager College in Ogden for 17 years and at the college in Salt Lake City for two years.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Utah Business Education Association and Utah Council of Teachers of English.
Surviving are her mother of Ogden and one sister, Miss Wynona Mahoney, Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Wendell M. Keck officiating.

NYSSA, Ore. ---Wallace Wayne Simpson, 53, of Nyssa, Ore., died Monday in a Nyssa hospital of a heart attack.

Mr. Simpson was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Hooper, Utah, a son of James J. and Edna Schofield Simpson.

He had lived in Hooper until moving to Nyssa 12 years ago. He had been a farmer.

On Jan. 9, 1934, he was married to Verda Read in Hooper. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Dec. 10, 1936.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are his widow, three sons, Clint Simpson, Clair Simpson, both of Nyssa; Dallas Simpson, Ogden; 10 grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters, Carl Simpson, Nyssa; L. Lynn Simpson, Roy; Mrs. Thelma Hodson, Valley Center, Calif.; Mrs. Orwen (Thora) Uruke, Escondido, Calif.; Mrs. Clarence P. (Nola) Higley, Mrs. Herbert (Wanda) Peterson, both of Hooper.

GLENDALE, Calif. ---- Mrs. Bessie Henrietta Thompson Hansen, 83, formerly of Plain City, died Saturday in the Memorial Hospital in Gardenia, Calif., of natural causes.
She was born April 17, 1888, in Scipio, a daughter of Henry Bronson and Elizabeth Yates Thompson.
She was married to Lorin Christian Hansen on June 19, 1907, in Ogden. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 1, 1922. Mr. Hansen died Oct. 23, 1959.
She was a member of the Glendale LDS Ward, a former Relief Society president, a temple worker in the Los Angeles Temple and a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Surviving are two sons and four daughters, Lorin Merwin Hansen of Glendale, Howard Y. Hansen of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Robert (Wanda) Spray of LaCrescenta, Calif., and Mrs. Edwin (Zelda) Pitcher of Huntington Park, Calif., Mrs. Ralph (Elaine) Mears of Englewood, Calif., and Mrs. (Lucille) Giles of Plain City; 36 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Merwin Thompson, Gordon Thompson and Sterling Thompson, all of Plain City, and Mrs. Ralph (Ethel) Taylor Gladstone, Ore.

HUNTSVILLE---Wells M. Stoker, 62, of Huntsville, died yesterday at his home of natural causes.
He was born March 5, 1909, a son of Lorenzo and Polly Hammon Stoker.
He was married to Anna Melle, Oct. 19, 1929, in Provo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, Apr. 13, 1933.
He was a retired engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad, following 32 years service. At the time of his death, he was a farmer.
He lived in Roy until 1929, moving then to Huntsville where he has since resided.
He was an elder in the LDS Huntsville 2nd Ward. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and also a member of the Brotherhood of Firemen.
Surviving are his widow of Huntsville, one son and one daughter; Wells L. Stoker, Haines, Ore.; and Mrs. Carl (Penny) Holmes, Huntsville; 10 grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters: Jesse Stoker, Ellis Stoker and Mrs. Albert (Pearl) James, all of Ogden; Mrs. Fuschia Jones, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Roger (Golda) Allison and Mrs. Jesse (Betsy) Lillywhite, both of Roy.
