Uintah Cemetery - Uintah, Utah
Uintah Cemetery had its first burial in about 1850-51 and is still in use today. Due to its proximity to the railroad tracks, a number of wooden grave markers were lost in grass fires sparked by the trains.
Burial Records
Written burial records at Uintah Cemetery were nonexistant for some time. The current sexton has made every effort to put together a most complete list of burials at the cemetery. In the comments field of the records are annotations regarding details of burials. This column lists military service designated by war. It also indicates removals and what cemetery they were moved to. Some burials were located on a map of the cemetery from approximately 1910. There is no other record of these burials and they are designated as "per map." Some buried in the cemetery were of the right age to have been combat veterans but no information on their service is available. These are marked ?war. If you have information on military service for anyone who is not designated as such, please send me the information so it may be included in the records.
