Simpson,Birell,Ogden and Hooper Rose Adams (rosebud@cctrap.com)
I am looking for information on the Families of BUCHANAN, BURRELL, and SIMPSON.
John Reid Simpson and Isabella Birrell met and married in Auctermuchty, Fife,
Scotland 9th of Nov. 1866. He was born 3Dec1840,Logelly,Auchterdeiran,Fife
,Scotland. She was born 30 Apr 1846, Auchtermuchty, Fife, Scotland, daughter of
Presbyterian Minister Morrison BURRELL and Jane ADAM.
John Reid SIMPSON was a
Mormon convert in Scotland. Our records show that he was baptized in Scotland in
1850 at the age of ten. He met and fell in love with Isabell Burrel, a
Presbyterian ministers daughter. Her father disowned her for marrying a
Mormon. But their desire to come to Utah and be with the saints was a powerful
drive that brought them to Utah in the 1860's. Isabell had made a promise to her
father to never join the church, but she attended faithfully until the day she
died. John on the other hand, had a problem with the practice of polygamy which
involved one of his aughters, and he fell away from the church. These were their
children:
1-John SIMPSON b. 17 Mar 1867, Beath, Fife, Scotland
2-Morrison Birrell SIMPSON-b. Mar 1870, Ogden, UT.
3-William S SIMPSON b. Dec

Searching for information on the family of John C. Royle (1833-1888) and Jane Barker (1840-1877). Lived in Weber Co. around 1860's to 1900. John was (according to book "Beneath Ben Lomond's Peak") the first music teacher in Ogden area. They are in the 1870 and 1880 census in West Weber where he was the school teacher. John is buried in Ogden Cemetary. I am decended through their daughter Mary Jane Royle who married Henry James Ware. Thank you for any help that can be provided.
Malan Heights Patrick Swift (plkmswift@aol.com)
Looking for information or history of area near Ogden named Malan Heights. Was this a residential area, or somewhere in the canyons surrounding Ogden?
Malan Heights
Lori
I think Malan's Heights refers to the general area of the Peak and Basin. Malan's Peak and Malan's Basin are geographical areas next to Ogden City. If you click on the link below, you can download a map showing Malan's Peak and Basin. The map is in tif format. Along the right edge of the map you will see where it says "Cache National Forest". Look directly left (west) of the I and O in National. Malan's Peak is a little northwest of the basin. The basin is where the hotel was that was built by Bartholomew Malan, the immigrant.
Eggleston/Farr Karen Stark (KStarkrm@aol.com)
I am trying to find information about Lurania Powers Burgess Eggleston, wife of Samuel Eggleston who came to Ogden in Weber County in 1862, and died here in 1870 . Thomas and Charlotte Dunn jack Butler (jbutler1@san.rr.com)
Does anyone have information on the correct marriage date of Thomas and Charlotte Dunn, pioneers in Weber County? Various contributions to the LDS Family Search Site list it as 1875 and 1857. Which, if either, is correct?
1857 vs 1875
Lori
It appears to me that the AF entry for Charlotte Campbell marrying Thomas James Dunn in 1875 is incorrect. The entries in the IGI for Charlotte marrying Thomas Dunn in 1857 come from filmings of the records of temple sealings. However, the first date listed, 16 Jan 1857, is from batch #A183374. I believe all "A" batches are user submitted. The second date listed, 2 Apr 1857, is from batch #M183395. You can get the information on deciphering batch codes from your local FHC. I don't have the info handy to tell you exactly what "M" records are, but I would bet the April date is the correct one, not the January date.

Interest in Conrad Clan
Rick Conrad (rlc99@gateway.net)
Do you know of any Conrads, from the Indiana area prior to
1880?
There was a Conrad that was a Sgt. in the Civil War.He would have been
my great-grandfather.I will check with the names you have mentioned with
my close relatives and see if they have info.
Conrads of Indiana
Thelma (coonie@cqc.com)
Edward and his brother Ben were both born in Indiana. We have Edward and his sibs except for "Ben". We aren't sure of his given name as we have seen it as Barnhart, Benough and Bernard. We tried this forum because we have a bio of Edward who moved to Utah from Indiana in 1876 and it mentions his brother, "Ben" and because we believe he is a vet as was his brothers. If there is a connection we have a lot of info on this particular Conrad line.
Conrad Clan
Rick Conrad (rlc99@gateway.net)
I checked with my father and he told me that my
great-grandfather's name was Abraham Conrad. He was married to
Teresa Gray of Kentucky. Abraham was born in about 1844 and
Teresa born in 1848. Supposedly the story goes that he
was a
Sgt in the Civil War and did pretty well. They
somehow
migrated to the Texas area, but we don't know of
any of his
brothers or sisters and where they might have
went to in the
states.
Conrad Clan
Thelma (coonie@cqc.com)
My Conrad came from Germany and ended up in Ohio. He and his wife had children during the years 1838-1859. There isn't an Abraham and since yours was born 1844 it seems there is no connection. Sorry. Good luck!
Conrad Clan
Thelma (coonie@cqc.com)
I should clarify that a couple of the Conrad children were born in Ohio and the rest in Indiana where they finally settled.

Baby LEE Jan Kerrick McKee (bmckee@uswest.net)
When my mother was less than 10 years old, she had a brother who died. They lived in Ogden on the north side of town which is now a military facility. This would have been before 1936. When her baby brother LEE was buried no stone was placed as they were very poor. I believe the baby's name was Vincent LEE. He would have been born about 1932 and lived only a few months. Can anyone help me locate where he is buried?

Emil EDSINGA family
Robert Bremer (bremerr@oclc.org)
Emil EDSINGA (Ibele IDSENGA), 1884-1962, was the husband of my grandmother's sister, Johanna Hermina VAN LEEUWEN. I met their son, Henry Edsinga and his wife several times in the 1970s and 1980s. They were involved in genealogical research on the family and both passed away in the early 1990s. No doubt, their genealogical records were passed on to one of their daughters. Bert Edsinga was another son who may still be living in Riverside, CA. I can provide some additional information on Emil's family if you want to email me.

My ancestor had quite a string of husbands. I am looking for anyone who is related to Susannah Ellen Clark Hathaway who moved to North Ogden in November 1862 with her sons Daniel, Michael, Elisha, John and daughter Ellen Susannah. She married Wesley Rose in December 1862 shorty after arriving. Wesley and Susannah had a son George Wesley Rose in 1864. Susannah was divorced and married John Mower and then married to Isaiah Campbell in 1870 since she is in the 1870 Census as Susannah Campbell. I am trying to find an obituary on her. I've been told she is burried in the North Ogden City Cemetery. I could not find a North Ogden City Cemetery only an Ogden City Cemetery listed in the FHL catalog. The date of death my father had for her is 1884. This is incorrect. I have a picture of her that is about 1894 with her son George Rose and his second wife and two children. Any help on locating her place of burrial and an obituary would be greatly appreciated.
