Key Details
in History:
Law Enforcement Role: Serving as a Grand County Sheriff/Deputy,
Tyler was actively involved in patrolling against rustlers, including a 12-day,
1899 posse in the San Rafael country.
The Deadly Confrontation: On May 26,
1900, while searching for cattle thieves in the Book Cliffs, Tyler and his

Tyler had been actively pursuing the "Hole in the Wall Gang," having shot and

in Moab, Utah. He was remembered for his dedicated, albeit brief, tenure in a
dangerous, lawless era.
