CHERRY, Jesse Yelton – Local History — What Happened May 20, 1865 — Elder Jesse Yelton CHERRY of Centerville, Davis county, die of smallpox in Nottingham, England, where he labored as a missionary. Source: Salt Lake Tribune (Salt Lake City, UT). 20 May 1910.
CLARK, Frank - a well known resident of Layton, Davis county, died yesterday at his home, after a two weeks’ illness from typhoid fever. He was 50 years of age and has been a resident of Layton for about 20 years. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 o’clock, at the home. Burial will be made at Kaysville. COURT, Thomas - Brother Thomas COURT was buried in the Bountiful cemetery Thursday the 8th. He lived in South Bountiful about 7 years, leaving about 14 years ago. He moved to the 7th ward, Salt Lake City, which place was his home until the time of his death. He was 87 years of age. He has been in the church about 40 years. He was highly respected. DON, Dr. M. (Mrs.) - This evening before going to press, we learned that Mrs. Dr. M. DON died at John THURGOOD’S this evening, at 4pm, she was 43 years of age. She has suffered all her life of consumption. She came with her husband to John THURGOOD’S, March 4. On the night of the 23 she commenced vomiting. Chunks of her lungs as large as a ladies hand were thrown up. The sight was sickening until relieved by death. Funeral tomorrow at 2 pm at the Meeting House. Source: Davis Clipper, 25 March 1892.

ERWIN, John - John, the little five weeks old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert ERWIN of Clinton, Davis county, died at the home Monday of pneumonia and was buried at the Clinton cemetery today. Source: Deseret Evening News (Salt Lake City, UT). 07 February 1906.
FACKRELL, (infant) - Brother J.N. FACKRELL and wife buried another sweet babe Thursday. It was about nine months old. They have lost four out of seven, and those having laid away their dear ones, will know how to sympathize with them. Source: Davis Clipper, 9 April 1892.
KING E.J. - E.J. KING, a prominent citizen of Davis county, died at his home in Layton yesterday morning after a long illness from Bright’s disease. Mr. KING was fifty-eight years of age. He had been prominently identified with a number of business interests in Davis county. His widow, five daughters and six sons survive him. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Kaysville tabernacle, where the remains will be buried. Source: The Evening Standard (Odgen, UT). 18 November 1909.
KING, Thomas F. - OGDEN, Jan. 8. — Thomas Franklin KING, aged 70 years, a former sheriff of Davis county, died in this city at 3 o’clock this afternoon after a three years’ illness from cancer. He was born in Ohio, May 1, 1842, and came to Utah in 1862. He had been a resident of Farmington, Davis county, since that time. He served two terms as sheriff of Davis county and was extensively interested in farming and fruitgrowing. At the time of his death he was a member of the high council of Davis stake. LAYTON, Rose Ann - Mrs. Rose Ann LAYTON, widow of Christopher LAYTON, founder of Layton, Davis County, died yesterday afternoon at her home in Layton, at the age of 72 years. Death was due to enlargement of the spleen. She was born in England September 22, 1842, came to Utah in 1854, and has lived in Davis county ever since. Five sons and three daughters survive her: George W., Ernest, Isaac, of Layton; Albert T. LAYTON of Duncan, Ariz.; Mrs. Jeannette VESIGER of Tremonton, Utah; Mrs. Rose THORNLEY of Layton and Mrs. Olive BARLOW of Bountiful.Funeral announcement will be made later. STODDARD, John M. - After a long illness from Bright’s disease, John Martin STODDARD, an old resident of Clinton, Davis county, died Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home of his son, Asa STODDARD. He was born in Illinois on July 10, 1839. Coming to Utah many years he located at Clinton and resided there up to the time of his death. He is survived by a number of children and grandchildren. WOOLLEY, Julia - Sister Julia WOOLLEY, wife of John W. WOOLLEY, departed this life Tuesday March 2, 1892. She has been ailing for some time. In conference at Bountiful, Sunday afternoon she was severely stricken and grew worse gradually. Her trouble was heart failure. She was about 58 years of age. A person at the funeral said, if they could have such good things said of them, they would be ready to lay down at any time. A number of the Apostles were up from Salt Lake.
