James Petersen

Son of Rasmus Petersen and Annia Marie Hansen, both of Fyen, Denmark, who died of cholera near Quincy, Ill., while en route to Utah). Born April 28, 1868, at Fyen. Came to Utah September. 1866, Abner Lowry company. Married Anna Eliza Rasmussen Oct. 16, 1879. Mt. Pleasant, Utah (daughter of Rasmus Rasmussen and Maria Christine Johanstatter of Fyen, Denmark), who was born Jan. 13, 1860.

Their children: Elsina Maria b. Sept. 4, 1880; Annie Johanna b. Dec. 8, 1882, m. William E. King; James Erastus b. March 30, 1885, died; Dianthy Sephrona b. May 26, 1887, m. Andrew O. Larson; Parley b. March 30, 1889; Leo Wilford b. May 18. 1891; Delbert b. June 15, 1893; Vern b. Dec. 12, 1895; Myrtle Amanda b. March 12, 1898; Rex b. Oct. 11, 1900; Blenda Irene b. Nov. 14, 1902.

Family home Castle Dale, Utah. High priest; ward clerk; high councilor; member stake board of education; president of town board. School trustee. Merchant; farmer. An early settler at Castle Dale. Has done much to build up Emery county.
