Former Roosevelt Mother Dies at Home in Duchesne City

Funeral services were held on Sunday at one o'clock at the Duchesne ward chapel for Mrs. Ella Draper Young, 42, wife of Leo D. Young, who died Wednesday after a long illness. Mrs. Young was born in Nephi and came to Roosevelt in 1911 where she lived until the family moved to Duchesne two years ago. She has served willingly in all branches of the L. D. S. church and in the Daughters of the Pioneers.

Funeral services were under the direction of the Duchesne ward bishopric with Rulon Larsen in charge. The invocation was pronounced by Dewey Merriweather and the music was furnished by a trio of young women. Ray E. Dillman, Mrs. Minnie Angus and John Madsen were the speakers who all expressed the loss the community will feel in the death of this faithful worker. After the benediction by Charles W. Smith, the remains were brought to Roosevelt where graveside ceremonies were held under the direction of the Roosevelt ward bishopric, Heber T. Hall presiding. Elmer Manwaring offered the invocation and the Manwaring sisters sang. J. Austin Pack spoke a few words at the grave which was dedicated by Bruce Calder. The beautiful floral offerings bespoke the love and respect with shich the family is held in the community.

Surviving Mrs. Young are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Verley Wardle of Roosevelt; five sons, Elden and Avanal of California; Lynn of Seattle; Dearmon, Paul and Harold of Duchesne; one sister, Mrs. May E. Naylor of Spanish Fork and one brother, H. M. Draper of Draper, Utah.
