Headstone Inscriptions
Cemetery Description
Taken from a survey of the Fruitland City Cemetery of visible headstones by Andy E. Wold on
14&__ Sep 1998. Where the inscription is marked "unreadable", the 1982 survey by Alma M. Brines(1) and
the 1983(?) survey donated by Mrs. Max Bonnett(2) were used as references.
The cemetery is located between mile markers __ & __ on the south side of US-40 -- about
__ miles west of Fruitland, Duchesne County, Utah. According to the U.S.G.S., the G.P.S.(3) position for
the cemetery is 40°12'43"N by 110°51'15"W.
The cemetery is surrounded by a thin livestock fence, and includes an ornamental ironwork gate,
donated by the American Legion in ___, with the phrase "FRUITLAND CEMETERY" on it. There are a
few trees on the west end on the cemetery, a flagpole in the southeast corner, and a maintenance shed
in the northwest corner. The entrance to the cemetery is in the northeast corner, and the cemetery drive
runs south from there, turns west, then north, then east -- back to the entrance.
There are ___ rows of graves -- running in a north-south direction. There are currently no graves
east, south, nor west of the cemetery drive.
The survey was taken in a row-by-row basis -- starting with the easternmost row, proceeding in a
north-to-south fashion along each row. The columns of graves north of the cemetery drive were done
lastly, in a similar manner.

LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER
GOD SAW YOU WERE GETTING TIRED, AND A CURE WAS NOT TO BE.
SO HE PUT HIS ARM AROUND YOU, AND WHISPERED "COME WITH ME."
WITH TEARFUL EYES WE WATCHED YOU SUFFER, AND SAW YOU FADE AWAY.
ALTHOUGH WE LOVED YOU DEARLY, WE COULD NOT MAKE YOU STAY.
A GOLDEN HEART STOPPED BEATING, WORKING HANDS WERE PUT TO REST.
GOD BROKE OUR HEARTS TO PROVE TO US, HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.
WE ALL LOVE YOU....
