MCBRIDE SCRUB CREEK LOST CEMETERY

This cemetery is probably on private property. The Mc Bride Scrub Creek Lost Cemetery is at Nogales Prairie, TX, on the William Cox Survey, in an uncultivated pasture near an old cistern, about 100 yards from Scrub Creek. This cemetery has not been surveyed.  It is reported there are no tombstones showing.

Location and history of the cemetry were given on January 22, 1992 by Mr. Earl Lester. Mr. William Due purchased the land from the I & GN Railroad. Two acres were allocated for a cemetery. Later, Mr. I. Friedman purchased the property. In 1909, Mr. Joe Terry bought the land and in 1910 Mr. Earl Lester was the purchaser. Mr. Lester knew about the cemetery, and could tell by the mounds that there were seven graves. There was no identification other than seeing a member of the McBride family tend to the graves occasionally. All indications of graves have been obliterated. This family lot has always been known to Mr. Lester as the McBride Cemetery.
