Lillian Moss Winston

Graveside services for
Lillian Moss Winston, 90, of Brownfield will be held
at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2006, in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery
with Pete Curtis of Meadow officiating. The services will be under
the direction
of Brownfield Funeral Home. Mrs. Winston died Sunday, Jan 1, 2006,
in
Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born Dec. 6, 1915 in
Fisher Co.
to William and Nancy Moss and was married to J. C. "Johnny" Winston on
June 3, 1950. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2005.
Mrs. Winston moved to South Terry County in 1923 with her parents and her sister
Arlene. She attended Hunter School, then Wellman School where she
graduated.
The family bought a farm east of Meadow in 1936 where Mrs. Winston lived until
her marriage. She and her husband made their home in Brownfield.
Mrs. Winston checked groceries for 13 years for Furr's Supermarket in
Brownfield.
She enjoyed membership in several Terry County Home Demonstsration Clubs with
the latest being the Terry County Extension Education Association where she
served as
Treasurer. She was presented a 50 year Service Certificate a few
years ago by the
Extension Service. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the
Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and her husband of 55 years,
Johnny
Winston. She is survived by one son, Joe Dale Doak, and his
wife, Wanda, of Wylie,
and one granddaughter, Stephanie Moore, and her husband, Steve, of
Garland. She is
also survived by one niece, Glena Curtis, and several cousins.
