Adolph Wenzel, 83 of Brownfield passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16,
2009. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23,
at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruby Moultrie
officiating. Interment will follow in Terry County Memorial Cemetery
under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Leo was born on Feb. 11, 1926, in Clifton to Adolf and Alma Wenzel. He joined the United States Marine Corp in 1944 serving in Iwo Jima and receiving a WWII Purple Heart. He then married Mary Ellen O'Neal on Feb 2, 1949, in Brownfield. She preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2007. Leo farmed throughout Terry County for many years. He was employed with the City of Brownfield Electric for over 17 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Leo is survived by his 2 daughters, Theresa Berne and her husband Ed of McKinney and Virginia Wenzel of Littlefield, and his sister, Lorena Welch of Levelland; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
