Services for John Paul Turner, 89, of Brownfield will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Addington officiating. Burial will follow in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Paul passed away Thursday, December 20, 2007, at his home in Brownfield. He was born May 16, 1918, in Broken Bow, OK. to Joseph and Emma Turner. He and his family moved to Big Spring in 1930. He attended Big Spring Schools.

He married Bobbye Thompson, June 6, 1939, in Big Spring, Texas, and they moved to Brownfield in 1954. He ran Foster Gin from 1962 until it closed in 1993. He farmed for over 53 years, retiring in 2000.   Paul was a Mason, Shriner and a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Martha Burgner, a brother, Jim Turner and a grandson, Paul Glenn Grimes. Family and friends will be pallbearers.

Paul is survived by his wife Bobbye of Brownfield; three daughters, Bobbye Jo Floyd and husband Ronnie, Paula Grimes of Abilene and Cheryl Purtell of Lubbock; three sisters, Clote Reynolds of Houston, Edwina Stewart and Geneva Kisor and her husband Bob all of Abilene; a brother, Delmer Turner of Big Spring; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be viewing on Monday, December 24th at the funeral home from 10 am - 2 pm. He will be in state Wednesday, December 26th from 8 am - Noon.
