Lorene Barnhart Tijerina, age 66, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 24, 2011, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Brownfield with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial will follow at Brownfield Cemetery. Personal services are under the direction of Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield.

Mrs. Tijerina was born on February 28, 1944, to Ted and Isabell Barnhart in Floresville, Texas. Her family moved to Brownfield in 1947 where she later met the love of her life Joe Tijerina.  Joe and Lorene married in September 1961, in Brownfield.

Her family remembers her for having a great sense of humor; helping lots of people and having a soft heart. She ran a clothing store and liked to listen to music and cook. Everyone who knew her called her grandma.

Those left to cherish her memory are 3 Sons: Joe Tijerina of Denver, Co., Jessie Tijerina and wife Peggy of Andrews, and Elias Tijerina and wife Velia of Lubbock; 3 Daughters: Rosa Tijerina and husband Ramon Arredondo, Susan Tijerina and Louisa Tijerina and husband Jason Alvarado all of Brownfield; 5 Brothers: Felix Barnhart of Ballinger, Eloy and Rusty Barnhart both of Denver, Co., Roy and Adam Barnhart both of Greeley, Co.; 3 Sisters: Elisa DeLeon of Brownfield, Corina Perez of Lubbock, and Crissy Barnhart of Greeley, Co.; 16 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tijerina December 3, 1992; her parents, Ted and Isabell Barnhart; 1 Brother: Alex Barnhart in 2002; 1 Son: Jessie Tijerina on 2/1/1970 and 2 Great Grandsons: Rudy and Ray Rodriguez on 2/27/2003.
