Gladys Thomason, 93, of Denver City will be held at 11 a.m. on
Thursday, June 7, 2007, in the First Church of the Nazarene in
Denver City with Pastor Harold Brown officiating, assisted by Pastor
Jody Talbot. Burial is at 3 p.m. in Terry County
Cemetery in Brownfield on June 7. The services are under the
direction of Boyer Funeral Chapel of Denver City. Gladys Farrell was born June 7, 1913, in San Angelo. She was three years old before she was christened 'Gladys' by her father because they were so glad to have her as the only daughter among four boys. Gladys and Wilton (deceased) have four daughters--Virginia and F. A. Corley of Eustace; Gwendolyn and Nathan Patterson of Haskell; Sharon and Carl Huber of Hobbs, N.M. and Camelia 'Camay' and Glenn Jennings of Thousand Oaks, Calif. In addition to their daughters, there are 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren to complete the family. After Wilton and his business partner, Jeff Davis, designed and patented the first spreader box in the 1950's, paving construction became the family business. Wilton and Gladys formed the Thomason Construction Company, Inc. which paved many of the roads and highways throughout Texas and New Mexico. Gladys served as Vice President, bookkeeper and office manager for many years before the company was sold in the 1980's. Gladys was an Avid game player. Her highly competitive nature made her a formidable opponet. For many years, you would find her at the Senior Center getting in a fast game of dominoes or '42' before lunch. Gladys cherished the time that she spent with her family, playing Mexican Train, Skip Bo and Wahoo. She loved life and family and she will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2002; four brothers---Earl, Arp, Zack and Bob Farrell and by two grandsons--Michael Lee Lloyd in 1959 and Randy Gene Huber in 1995. The family will have visitation on Wednesday, June 6, at the Boyer Funeral Chapel in Denver City from 5-7 pm. Survivers are: four daughters--Virginia Wanell Corley and her husband--F.A. of Eustace; Gwendolyn Sue Patterson and her husband--Nathan of Haskell; Sharon Ann Huber and her husband--Carl of Hobbs, N.M and Avis Camellia Jennings and her husband--Glenn of Thousand Oaks, Calif., A nephew--Larry Gene Farrell and three nieces--Kathy Jo Cornatzer, Dani Lee McKenzie and Peggy Brown.
