services for Ruth Steele, 97, of Brownfield will be at 10am,
Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Don
McWhorter officiating. Burial will be under the direction of
Brownfield Funeral Home. Ruth passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, in Lubbock. She was born January 1, 1915, in Brown County to Roland and Annie Laura Thompson. She graduated from Plainview High School. Ruth married George B. Steele on July 2, 1939, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1976. They moved to Brownfield in 1945. She was a member of Eastern Star and Brownfield First United Methodist Church. Ruth is survived by 2 sons, James "Buzz" Steele of Brownfield and Calvin Steele and wife Kathie of Alaska; a daughter, Sue Herring of Amarillo; grandchildren, Tamera Smith and husband Jim of Lucas, Shelly Powell and husband Michael of Odessa, D'Ann Greenlee and husband Mike of Lubbock, Chris Herring and wife Stacy of Amarillo, Robin Farris and husband Shane of Amarillo, Luke Steele of Anchorage, AK and Amy Steele of Washington, DC; 8 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Terry County Cemetery Association or Brownfield First United Methodist Church. |
