Thomas "Tommy" Shipman, 92, of Brownfield were held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Dec. 27, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter
officiating. Burial followed in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Thomas passed away on Dec. 23, 2008 in Lubbock. Thomas was born on Dec. 14, 1916, in Del Rio to Frank and Bula Shipman. He enlisted in the Army, serving in WWII, where he received many medals. He married Dora Lee Bristow on Aug. 30, 1938, in Van Horn. She preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1993. He worked for Ozark-Mahoning Chemical Company from 1955 until his retirement in 1982. Thomas was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He is survived by his sister, Josephine Mooring of Roswell; his niece, JoAnn Joy and her husband Dwayne of Capitan; his nephew, James and his wife Debby of Silver City; his nephew Mike Mooring of Roswell; his great nieces and nephews, Travis and Jared Joy, and Sara Collins and Wade Mooring; several great great nieces and nephews.
