Stella L. Roe, 61, of Brownfield were held Saturday, March 15, at
Calvary Baptist Church with Steve Carter officiating.
Internment was in Brownfield Cemetery. Mrs. Roe died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in Lubbock. She was born in Lubbock on January 16, 1947, to Harold and Wilma Rice and attended Brownfield schools. She married Johnnie Padgett Roe on May 29, 1963, in Brownfield. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1996. Mrs. Roe was currently working for her niece in a retail store in Lubbock. She lived for her grand-kids, was a lifetime member of the PTA and a Silver Sponsor of the West Garrett Dance Company in Dumas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons--Johnnie of Marietta, Ga. and Clint and his wife--Edith of Lubbock and one daughter--Laura Alwan and her husband--Dale of Dumas. Mrs. Roe is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers--Elbert Rice of Red Oak, Roy Rice of Stamford, and Don Abney of Patterson, La. and one sister--Kay Abney of Fayetteville, Ark. The family suggests memorials to the West Garrett Dance Company, 502 E. 7th, Dumas, 79029.
