Lazaro S. Rodriguez, 75, passed from this life on Friday, April 22, 2011, at his home in Brownfield.

Funeral mass for Mr. Rodriguez was held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Graveside services followed at Brownfield Cemetery. Personal services were under the direction of Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors of Seagraves.

Lazaro was born on March 27, 1936, to Silvestre and Maria Rodriguez in West Caliente, Mexico. He married Maria Nunez in February 1956 in Mexico.

His family remembers him as a man who enjoyed his music, gardening and collecting guns. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 55 years, Maria of the home; seven sons, Leopoldo Rodriguez and wife Romelia & Pedro Rodriguez and Suelma Rodriguez, both of Meadow, Silvestre Rodriguez, Aurelio Rodriguez and wife Esperanza and Joel Rodriguez and wife Terri, all of Brownfield, Liberato Rodriguez and wife Lisa of Indiana and Javier Rodriguez and wife Karla of Lubbock; one daughter, Imelda Rodriguez of Brownfield; two brothers, Alberto Rodriguez and Refugio Rodriguez of Mexico; seven sisters, Amelia Rodriguez Sanchez, Maria Rodriguez, Jesus Maria De Jesus Rodriguez, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Eva Rodriguez and Jenoveva Rodriguez, all of Mexico, and Socorro Rodriguez of Indiana. He also leaves behind 28 grandchildren and
8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Filisitas Rodriguez, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
