Lillie Mae
(Aunt Sister) Reed, loving and caring sister, aunt and
friend, joined her savior and many loved ones on May 6,
2006. She was born April 2, 1909, in Rucker,
Texas to George W. & Della Lewis Warren and moved to Lorenzo
with her family at age 10, then to Brownfield, Texas in
1926, where she finished high school.
Lillie
Mae began work for a department store established by Alfred
Stephens and Tom Cobb in Brownfield, where she was
privileged to attend market in Dallas with Lena Stephens.
She was the first Assistant County Auditor for Hockley
County and served in that capacity for 28 years.
Lillie Mae married Bob McDonald in 1930 and they operated a
cotton gin in Nocona, Texas. Bob passed away in 1946 in
Levelland. She later married Walter Reed in 1954 and he died
in 1999. She then went to live with her sister and brother
in law.
She was a
faithful member of First Baptist Church of Brownfield and
the Baptist Church of Nocona. She later became a very
dedicated member of First Baptist Church, Levelland, Sunday
School teacher, and faithful choir member. Lillie Mae
loved her church, her fellow Christians and her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and a
sister.
She is
survived by her sister, Ima George Willis; her nieces, Reba
Willis, Judy Cox, Sydna Bryant and her husband, Ronnie, Mary
Sams Howell and Nephew Ross Sams, Jr.; great nieces and
nephews, Rhonda, mark, Alanda and Blake Smith, Sonya and
Kevin McAullif, Christopher, Lindsay and Lauren Oppel, Edie
Bryant, Dennis, Erin and Damon, Jerome, Pam, Ally, and
Jerome Vahalik,
Funeral
services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at First
Baptist Church, Levelland with Dr. Steve Vernon, pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial
Cemetery, Brownfield, Texas, under direction of George Price
Funeral Home, Levelland.
The
family will receive friends in the parlor at First Baptist
Church, Levelland from 10 a.m., Tuesday until service time.
Memorials can be sent to First Baptist Church of Levelland
or VistaCare Hospice of Lubbock.
