Phillips, 93, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010, in a Lubbock
hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Burial followed in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Eula was born February 25, 1917, to Walter and Nora Jones in Jacksboro. She was raised with 10 siblings. "Granny" as she was known to her family, worked from a young age in the family farm, learning the value of family and hard work. She attended school in the Harmony community. Granny married Jimmy Norris Phillips on May 11, 1935, in Brownfield. She worked in the Wellman school cafeteria, a steam laundry in Brownfield and as an Avon representative and a home-maker. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Evans and her husband Leroy of Amarillo and Melba McKee and her husband Bill of Brownfield: six grandchildren, Marla Powers and her husband Jimmy of Wellman, Sherry Holcomb and her husband Rick of Denver, Colo., Angie Taylor and her husband Russell of Brownfield, Glenna Ervin and her husband David of Edmond, Okla., Janet Johnson and her husband Johnny of Conroe, and Russ McKee and his wife Shannon of Brownfield; 17 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; three brothers and three. sisters. Granny's legacy is best remembered by one of her favorite Bible verses; Corinthians 13:13 "And now abideth faith, hope and love, these three, but the greatest of these is love."
