Evadeen Patton

Services for Evadeen Patton, 96, of Brownfield, were held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, November 26, 2005, at Brownfield First Baptist Church Chapel
with Rev. Landy Land officiating. Interment will be in Terry County
Memorial
Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
She died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, in Lubbock, and was born May 23,
1909, in Merkel, Texas. She moved with her parents, Thenia and
Dayton
Snow, to Munday, Texas, in 1912 and to Terry County in 1921.
Evadeen married Grady Patton in Tahoka in 1925. They were engaged
in
farming in the Johnson and Union Communities. They moved to
Brownfield in
1972.
She was a member of the Johnson Baptist Church and later the First
Baptist Church in Brownfield. She taught Sunday School Classes of all ages
for more than 60 years. She was a charter member of the Brownfield
Art
Association and was also very active in other community activities including the
Home Demonstration Club.
Evadeen's husband, Grady, died Feb. 1972. She married Jim Van
Buskirk
June 1983. He died Jan. 1990. She was also preceded in
death by a daughter,
Mary Ellen Moore, Jan. 2000, and a granddaughter, Debbie Patton Beasley,
Aug 1978.
She is survived by a son, Gordon D. Patton and wife, Betty, of Brownfield and
a son-in-law, Erwin Moore, of Brownfield; five grandchildren: Dana Hamm
and
husband, Ace, of Plains; Tammie Bayouth and husband, Nordie, of Abilene;
Tricia Moore of Brownfield; Mark Moore and wife, Beth, of Lubbock, and
Win Moore and wife, Janice, of Coppell; three great granddaughters and
eight great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers
will be her
great grandsons. The family suggests memorials to a favorite
charity.
