Bobbie L. Montgomery

Services for Bobbie L. (Thomson) Montgomery, 84, of Brownfield will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Gresham officiating and Rev. Clarence Branch. Burial will follow in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
 
 The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
 
Bobbie passed away the morning of October 27, 2008, in Lubbock. She was born September 4, 1924, in Loraine to Robert and Laura Dee Foster and moved from San Saba to Brownfield in the late thirties. She attended and graduated from Brownfield High School. She married Loyd M. Thomson on February 24, 1943. That union was blessed with two children, Robert (Mack) and Carrol (C.W).

Loyd preceded her in death in 1954. She then married James Ira (Monty) Montgomery, Jr. in July 1970. He brought into this union four children, Glynda Gresham, Bryan Montgomery, Andy Decker and Leland Decker. Bobbie held several different positions in her life including Selective Service Board, Jones Theaters and was County Treasurer from 1967 until retiring in 1990. She was active and held several positions in the Rebecca Lodge. She was a member of and active in Calvary Baptist Church of Brownfield.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. I. (Monty) Montgomery; her parents, Robert L. and Laura D. Foster of Brownfield; one sister, Audrey (Tiny) and brother-in-law Harold Hill of Hobbs, New Mexico, and a nephew, Gregory Hill of Hobbs, New Mexico.
 
Bobbie is survived by her children, Robert (Mack) and Judy Thomson of Meadow, C.W. and Sylvia Thomson of Lubbock, Glynda and Michael Gresham of Port Lavaca, Bryan and Sherry Montgomery of Shallowater, Andy and Kandy Decker of Plainview, and Leland and Susan Decker of Austin; a sister, Minnie Ruth and Robert Rigler of Plainview; a brother, Robert (Jack) and Keiko Foster of Campbell; and a niece, Lynn and Tim Bryant of Wichita Falls. Bobbie is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
