| Services for Lucio M. Mercado, 82, of
Meadow will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church with Father Samuel Oracion officiating. Burial will
be in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral
Home. Lucio passed away Monday, November 1, 2010, in a Lubbock Hospital. He was born February 28, 1928, in Mexico City to Pedro and Modesta Mercado. He married Gloria Ramirez on January 6, 1964, in Mexico City, Mexico. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1988. They moved to Wellman in 1964. He then moved to Meadow after his wife's death. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Lucio worked in the orchards in California before settling in Wellman. and worked as a farm hand for Jimmy Berryhill and Willard Adair before retiring in 1993. Lucio loved spending time with his grandchildren and working in the yard. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, the Wellman Wildcats and the Meadow Broncos. Lucio is survived by two sons, Alex Mercado and wife Irma of Wellman and Robert Mercado and wife Julie of Meadow; two daughters, Patricia Rodriguez and husband Ray of Meadow and Elvia Ramos and husband Manuel of La Mirada, Calif,; 10 grandchildren; A.J. Mercado, Yesenia Mercado, Gina Mercado, Lindsey Mercado, Meghan Mercado, Emily Rodriguez, Erik Ramos, Christian Ramos, Alex Ramos and Emmanuel Ramos; 7 great grandchildren, seven sisters and seven brothers; and his father, Pedro Mercado of Mexico City.
