54, passed from this life on Monday, December 13, 2010, at Covenant
Hospital in Lubbock. Funeral Services for Mr. Mendez will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, at the Meadow Football Field with Pastor Ken McClung officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Cemetery. Personal services are under the direction of Mark A Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield. Mr. Mendez was born to Elias and Alicia Mendez on July 7, 1956, in Meadow. He married Ofelia Rodriguez on March 16, 1979, in Brownfield. His family remembers him as a big family man who loved cooking ribs. He enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed driving the bus for Meadow schools for the past 21 years. He was very proud of being the oldest child and taking care of momma. He also enjoyed music and hot rods. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 34 years, of the home, parents: Alicia of Ropesville; one son, Jonathan Mendez of Meadow; two daughters, Sarah Andrae and husband Josh of Brownfield and Stacy Molina and husband Leo of Meadow; six brothers, Edward Mendez and Jerry Mendez both of Ropesville, Sabas Mendez of Levelland, Elias Mendez, Jr of Wolfforth, Fred Mendez of Lubbock and Paul Mendez of Plainview; seven sisters: Susan Martinez of Smyer, Stella Carrisalez, Lisa Sanchez, Margret Mendez, and Esmeralda Mendez all of Lubbock, Mary Pierce and Vicky Rodriguez both of Levelland; 13 grandchildren and one great-Granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his father, Elias in 2007. The family would like to say a special thank you to the community of Meadow. Brownfield News |
