Alton Cecil McKee, 82, of Brownfield will be at 10am, Monday, March
19, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter
officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under
the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. There will be a family visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6pm. Alton will be in state from 12-8pm on Sunday for viewing. Alton passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, in Brownfield. He was born September 12, 1929, in Kaufman, Texas to Clifton and Zelma (Brasher) McKee. He and his family moved to Terry County in 1942 and he graduated from Brownfield High School in 1949. He was licensed to preach in 1950. Alton married Lela McCrary on July 20, 1951 in Syracuse, Kansas. He attended Wayland Baptist College for 2 years. Alton worked at Piggly Wiggly in Brownfield for 25 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 57 years. He was the church clerk for 2 years, delivered tapes to shut-ins, was "Food Box" volunteer and delivered meals on wheels. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Marilynn McKee in 2008. Alton is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lela of Brownfield; a son, Ralph McKee of Ft. Worth; 2 granddaughters, Kim Walker and Kristina Rosson, both of Lubbock; 3 great granddaughters, Kammi Conn, Kelsey Friese and Kassidy Powell, all of Lubbock; 3 brothers, Walter "Curly" McKee of Mt Pleasant, Bill McKee of Brownfield, Randall McKee of Austin; 2 sisters, Ann Nipp of Cleburne and Faye Little of San Antonio. |
