Eldon McInnis, 85, of Brownfield passed away on December 27, 2010, at University Medical Center in Lubbock after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2010, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Titus officiating. Burial will follow in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.   The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Eldon was born on June 21, 1925, to Augustus and Maude McInnis in Owens.    He attended school in May, Texas and joined the Army where he served overseas in the European Theatre during World War II.  He and Inez Russell were married August 28, 1947, in Brownwood. She preceded him in death in 2004.

Eldon retired from the City of Brownfield as an Electrician after 26 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a gunsmith for several years.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Era, Melba, Ruby, Betty and Susie; a daughter-in-law, Jessie.   He is survived by four children, Eldon, Jr. of Brownfield, Carol McInnis of Ropesville, Wayne McInnis and his wife Karen of  Woodward, OK, and Cheryl Taylor and husband Bill of Ropesville; five grandchildren, Joshua McInnis, Laura Howard and husband Kodi, Jamie Titus and husband Jeremy, John McInnis and Jodie Beckham and husband Brent; nine great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the concern, prayers and care received at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
