Beverly Francis McGowan

Beverly Francis McGowan passed away at the age of 81 on
Saturday,
March 25, 2006, at the Lubbock Heart Hospital following a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Joseph McGowan,
on July 6, 2003.
Beverly was born January 30, 1925, in Seguin, Texas, to Gertrude Kirkpatrick
Francis and Joseph Manning Francis. She grew up in New Braunfels,
Texas.
An accomplished pianist, she attended the University of Texas on a music
scholarship. She married Bill McGowan July 27, 1944, and resided in
Brownfield, Texas, until her death.
As avid Texas Tech University fans and supporters, she and Bill attended every
possible University athletic event. She and her husband loved to
travel and
enjoyed their numerous adventures together. As faithful members of
the
First Methodist Church of Brownfield, the couple took great joy in helping
decorate the church sanctuary for the Christmas and Easter seasons.
Mrs. McGowan took pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grand-
children. She is survived by her children: William Joseph McGowan II
and
Barbara Elizabeth McGowan McMurrey. She is also survived by
her
grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth McGowan McMurrey, William Joseph (Jay)
McGowan III, Christopher Michael McGowan and Blaine Marshall McGowan,
as well as her great grandchildren Tristen Benjamin MCGowan, Kaylen Vince
McGowan, Liv Eliana McGowan, Logan Bryce McGowan and Alyssa Marie
McGowan.
Memorial services were held on Monday, March 27, in the First United
Methodist Church of Brownfield. Donations may be made to the March
of Dimes.
