Obituary for Domingo "Sonny" Madrigal

Services for Domingo "Sonny" Dias Madrigal, 78 of Brownfield will be at 2pm, Monday, June 4, 2012, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with his son, Father Hector J. Madrigal and Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial will be in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Rosary will be at 6-8pm, Sunday at the Funeral Home. He will be in state for viewing Saturday and Sunday. Sonny departed this life on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his home in Brownfield.

He was born January 21, 1934, in Beeville, Texas to Esteban and Elojia Dias Madrigal. Sonny was raised in Terry County by his father and step mother, Teresa Alvarez. He married the mother of his children, Evangelina Jaquez on Feb. 14, 1953. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Panama, and was an avid sports fan and talented singer. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Cursillo Movement.

Sonny is survived by his daughters, Gloria Madrigal of Brownfield and Norma Madrigal of Brownfield; sons, Father Hector J. Madrigal of Amarillo, Domingo J. Madrigal of Brownfield and Estevan J. Madrigal and wife Tina of Rowlett; grandchildren, Richard, Minerva, Anna, Michael, Leticia, Jamie, Mandy, Ramiro, Andrew, Oscar and baby Madrigal; and by 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Oscar J. Madrigal; and 2 great grandsons.
