services for Gene Mackey, 83, of Brownfield were held Friday, March
9, in Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Chris Seaton
officiating. Mrs. Mackey died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Southwest Regional Medical Complex in Lubbock. She was born March 23, 1923, in Lubbock to Otto and Myrtie Welch and was married to Boyd C. Mackey on Jan. 14, 1943, in Lubbock. He died in 1980. Mrs. Mackey attended school in Lubbock. She was a Baptist. Her favorite hobby was bowling and she had participated in numerous leagues through the years. When her husband was in the service, they moved to Lubbock and Mrs. Mackey worked in a hospital until he returned home. They then moved back to Brownfield. She worked for Doug Ryburn at the Fina Station for about 13 years and then for J.B.'s Steak House for about six or seven years. Mrs. Mackey is survived by two sons---Clinton of Brownfield and Dana and his wife---Georgena of Lubbock and one daughter---Linda Skaggs and her husband---Frankie of Brownfield. She is also survived by one brother---Bill Welch of Lubbock and by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson in 1993. Brownfield News |
