Betty Mackey, 57, passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Lubbock.  Services for Mrs. Mackey were held Jan. 19, 2009, at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Brownfield with Rev. Lawrence Washington officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Brownfield. Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 18, at Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors in Brownfield.

Betty was born Aug. 31, 1951, to Dave and Oda Lee Mackey in Slaton and moved to Brownfield in 1970. She will be remembered most as a wonderful cook who never turned anyone away from her table. She was a Baptist.
  
Those left to cherish her memories include two sons,  Roger Lee Mackey of Brownfield and Johnny Lee Mackey of Odessa; four daughters, La Shaunda Ann Wesley of Denver, Colo., Treva Neel Mackey of Brownfield, Deloris Marie Mackey and husband Leo Richard of Lubbock and Eva Lashawn Valenzuela; her husband Lupe of Odessa; one brother, Paul Mackey of Beaumont and one sister, Onita Ervin of Odessa.  She is also leaves 15 grandchildren who she loved very much.

She is preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers.
