Services for Oscar Leon Lewis, 82, formerly of Plains were at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Wright officiating. Burial followed in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.   Leon's family will receive visitors prior to the service on Tuesday.

Oscar Leon Lewis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25. He was born Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927, in Brownfield to Clyde and Ora Lewis and graduated from Brownfield High School.  He received his masters from Texas Tech University. He was a U.S. Army and Navy Veteran. Leon taught for many years in the Plains ISD. He was an avid golfer and collected six holes-in-one during his career. He is preceded in death by two sons, Clarence Leon and William Deverelle Lewis; a sister, Vondee Moore.

Leon is survived by his son, Ceth and wife Jerra and their children, Hayes and Jessa of Weatherford; his daughter, Amantha Strawn and husband Herb, and her children Stephen of Brownwood, Clarence, Elizabeth, Aron, and Darryl of Plains; two brothers, Bobby Lewis and Deverelle Lewis of Lubbock; a sister, Elray McKinney of Lubbock; numerous loving nieces and nephews.
