Maria G. Lerma

Rosary for Maria G. Lerma, 82, of Brownfield was said Tuesday, Dec. 5,
in the Mark A. Jones Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass was said
Wednesday, Dec. 6, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Gerald
Leatham officiating. Burial was in the Brownfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Lerma died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, in the Lubbock Heart Hospital.
She was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Panamaria, Texas to Bruno and Pricilliana
Gonzales. She was married to Louis Lerma in 1971 in Karnes City.
He died on July 23, 1975.
Mrs. Lerma attended school in Panamaria. She had been a longtime
resident
of Brownfield and worked for GTE many years. She later cooked for the
Terry County Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Lerma is survived by three sons---Lewis of Plainview, Leo of Hillsboro
and Johnny of Shallowater and five daughters---Lidia Padilla, Lora Salis and
Lupe Lerma, all of Hillsboro; Mary Garcia of Lubbock and Jennie Hernandez
of Brownfield. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
